This is clearly not my cat. If this was my cat he's have one arm shoved down into the printer trying to tear up all the internal whirling bits with his bare claws.
- Soup in a TARDIS
Too Funny! Reminds me of the San Mateo Cat Shelter where one of the cats loves to sleep on top of the laster printer where the paper comes out...
- Greg Lato
1600+ to beat the FFundercats live chat thread. I think with this real time now on all threads we're going to see some truly epic comment numbers.
- Simon Wicks
Ivan, no the picture speaks for itself. ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Petr, I have no idea what you mean, but thank you. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
@Kol .. :] that, partially, might have been the purpose.... I don't know it exactly either. :] .. was I reflecting on a cat under the fax, and that it is hard to fax that way ... /?:] ... "underfaxing at its worst" ..
- pb:
there ya have me ! :] .... see, to be honest with you, i saw this pic couple days ago, but i let it go, without posting it ..... what does that make me? :]
- pb:
even a flat cat... faxes just can't handle the hair. You'd have to shave the cat first, else the hair will burn and stick to the drum... a mess! (I am extrapolating from transparencies, mind, i don't have access to a cat to test)
- Iphigenie
Hehe, Joelle. This is now tied for the 'likes' top stop. One more then, hehe. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Hehe, Greg. Blimey! Erm, is that not far from 500 likes now? ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Bloody marvelous, Kol. Wish I could like it again... too cute (and help u to 500 likes).
- Roberto Bonini
I couldn't believe it when I logged on from the morning over posting it and saw it was at something 200 likes! You all have a strange fetish with cats and fax machines, hehe. ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Am I the only one who saw this and their first thought was - My goodness did someone break that cats neck? It still freaks me out a little
- SteVe C
Steve, it does look a little out of place, but cats are pretty bendy. ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
So we can put this post to rest now. :-) 505 likes final count, wow! :-D Good night all!
- Kol Tregaskes
did 3 people really un-like this? now at 506. wtf (edit: uh, oh, yeah, me and 2 + 506 others makes 509. dammit, jim, i'm an artist, not a mathematician)
- ɐ ɯıʞ sıɹɥɔ
One of the best funny cat pictures I've seen! :-)
- John Collis
Kristian, it appears to be. Hehe, John.

It's really only social convention which regards it as inappropriate, same with Xeroxing it, like one does with their b__tocks. Wait are we still talking about cats cats here or...
- sofarsoShawn
OMGosh 700+ likes now!! LOL. Thank you all 702 of you. :-)

While we wait for all the carriers to get on board with nixing their endless, unhelpful voicemail pre-beep messages, we've already got instructions from Sprint on how to disable it for your own particular voicemail box on that network. It's pretty easy: Call your voicemail. At the menu, press 3 for personal options. Press 2 for greeting. Press 1 to change the greeting. To enable / disable the instructions, press 3. Trust us, we did some serious searching for similar instructions on the other major carriers, but had no luck. If you know of anything, let us know! I like having each service as an individual contact. Much easier. Can we see the same for Pownce?
- Chris Nixon
Well, IMified has taken bot to a next level.. I even created a customized option to check my google calendar appointments for today (a quick schedule for today) by interacting with bot! Not sure, if they have one for Pownce..

One year later. Just bumping this because it's the one year anniversary of the only item on FriendFeed to get more than 400 likes. (452 at the moment)

Lame. I'll assume "broader programming appeal" is what has been keeping Science Fiction off SciFi.
- Alan
I never see the point of these name changes. Costs loads to make up new logos etc and the effect is well...underwhelming. Syfy = lame.
- Amy
Apparently geek cred isn't good enough and they want to be more. While alienating their core audience.
- Araceli
Their core audience was already alienated. I mean geeks love aliens, right? You're groaning, but it's my nature. See #1: http://blog.wired.com/geekdad...
- Kevin Fox
They're doing this precisely because a lot of their content isn't strictly scifi (and hasn't been for a long while). Also, it's easier to branch out into new sub-brands with the new name, eg. SyFy Kids.
- Paul Wilcox
Araceli, as far as I know they have late night wrestling on Sci-Fi because, frankly, it pays the bills.
- Paul Wilcox
After Battlestar is off SciFi I'll only have Dr Who and I can torrent those months before SyFy (yech) get around to them. Terrible move.
- Ernie Oporto
from Nambu
Press release (http://scifiwire.com/2009...) says, "By changing the name to Syfy, which remains phonetically identical, the new brand broadens perceptions and embraces a wider range of current and future imagination-based entertainment beyond just the traditional sci-fi genre, including fantasy, supernatural, paranormal, reality, mystery, action and adventure."
- Stephen Mack #TeamMomo
So it's still pronounced Sci-Fi. I can see why they want to have a name they can trademark. But no one seems to like this.
- Stephen Mack #TeamMomo
.... a rose is still a rose by any other name......
- walterh
Translated: We want to show more wrastlin', MMA, and other baseline, lowest common denominator entertainment cause all yall's too stupid for real sci-fi.
- iTad
It sounds kind of different, but it isn't really, because we want to keep our core audience, but not really, cause we want to branch out...I swear to god, if this is Ben Silverman's idea, I'm going straight to NBC Universal and punching him in the face.
- Mike Nayyar
Perhaps it's part of the economic recovery effort. In this case, putting really lame branding agencies to work.
- Kevin (aka ThreadKilla)
Its a shame a la carte programming will never catch on among the cable companies, because SyFy is definitely a channel I would be getting rid of.
- Jonathan Hardesty
syfy.com states the new naming "creates an ownable and extendable brand for the future." This actually makes sense. 'Sci fi' is too too generic a term to receive trademark protections as they venture in to new areas, so they had to come up with something unique. I don't like what they ended up with, but I understand why (and how, since at least this change is only a visual change. The linguistic name stays the same.)
- Kevin Fox
"The human body can survive the hard vacuum of space unprotected, despite contrary depictions in much popular Science fiction. Human flesh expands to about twice its size in such conditions, giving the visual effect of a body builder rather than an overfilled balloon. Consciousness is retained for up to 15 seconds as the effects of oxygen starvation set in. No snap freeze effect occurs because all heat must be lost through thermal radiation or evaporation of liquids, and the blood does not boil because it remains pressurised within the body. The greatest danger is in attempting to hold one's breath before exposure, as the subsequent explosive decompression can damage the lungs. These effects have been confirmed through various accidents (including in very high altitude conditions, outer space and training vacuum chambers)."

Wow, that was the coolest thing I learned all day.
- Patrick Lightbody
Wow! You mean we are all really superheroes after all? Cool:)
- Roney Smith
Note that it says "the human body can survive", not "a human can survive". So we're not all superheroes. :( I just thought I'd ruin it for you.
- Gabe
It's awesome that wikipedia contains this list...and the list itself is awesome. Weirdly, I feel like I just learned recently that the flat earth story is bogus. Especially weird because, well, it's patently obvious that the earth is not flat, to anyone who has ever been in a large field.
- j1m
but, caveat emptor: the statement about myopia is misleading. In fact, close work during childhood appears to be a major cause of myopia (see, for example, the wikipedia entry on myopia). I wonder how many other errors there are in here that I wouldn't be able to catch. The list also includes some things that don't really count as common misconceptions. 'Koala bear' is a name for...
