"No, I don't believe anybody is saying that. I would say that some of these guys know perfectly well what they are doing, and others do not see what they are doing as harassment. But that isn't really the point. The point was that jumping directly to a very public humiliation without trying to talk to them first might be a bit premature. Call them on it first, and make it clear that the behavior will not be tolerated. If they persist, let 'em have it. Although I cannot pretend to understand why, I have been told repeatedly that some of these headliners are the only reason many people attend these conferences.
