Legal position on decrypting Blu Ray disks appears to be "it's fine so long as you're not American"...
Although I can't tell if VLC 2 will play AACS/BD+ encrypted (i.e. normal) blu-rays or not . Fun legal page for libaacs http://www.videolan.org/develop...
Ooh, VLC 2 will support blu-ray playback on the Mac and presumably. That's nice. http://www.videolan.org/develop...
Visited the "Cradle of Canada" in York over the weekend, with my Sister and her family. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...
Given away a kvm switch, a sometimes-working monitor, a Windows mobile PDA and a probably-working printer in recent days. Junk clearing FTW!
RT @jkakar: Sometimes it seems appropriate that Pythonic rhymes with moronic.
Uhm....surely it's common sense that it's a bad idea to use someone else's project mailing list to promote your project over theirs.
I don't like conflict, but I also don't like avoiding conflict just because I don't like conflict. What a bind. :-)
RT @ironpython: IronPython 2.7.2 Alpha 2 available: http://ironpython.codeplex.com/release.... sqlite3 and Windows Phone 7!
Mock 0.8 out by the way. Lots of new features and improvements: http://www.voidspace.org.uk/python... #python #testing
Well, I reckon the mock 0.8 documentation is complete. I'd better do a release in the morning then...

The Evoluent is not a small mouse, but the vertical grip (with wrist resting on table so no other rest needed) is very natural.
Our bedroom light has "novel" wiring. Tried to replace the lightswitch and now the bedroom switch turns the hallway lights on and off...
They recommend a laptop stand (to raise screen) plus separate keyboard and mouse.
According to @OsmondGroup posture advice, "Using a laptop on its own for any length of time will inevitably cause poor posture"
Kinesis Freestyle will def. replace the Microsoft Natural I travel with. Not convinced yet it will replace the Kinesis Advantage at home.
Ok, initial impressions. I really like the Kinesis Freestyle keyboard but still getting used to the slightly different layout.
Ok, so the Hazro stand wasn't so crappy - just broken (missing metal base plate). Replacement here and monitor is beautiful.
Hah, tripling the memory on the stackoverflow box is cheaper than buying a new sql server license... http://nickcraver.com/blog...
Doing a code review for @bloodearnest - he's mangled both our heads with twisty-turny-nested decorators... #python
An interesting work-in-progress for simpler unit testing of django with mock: https://github.com/dcramer... (by @zeeg - requires mock 0.8) #python
So, @bloodearnest wants to redesign django class based views so they're more like pyramid (e.g. annotation rather than decoration). #python
Switched to online only w/ Lovefilm. Currently have both Lovefilm and @NetflixUK streaming. Netflix better for TV shows, Lovefilm for movies
The advantage Shedskin has over Cython is that to get a speedup with Cython you must annotate your code (no longer valid Python).
Shedskin is a static version of Python that compiles to C++ (like RPython all Shedskin is valid python but all python is not valid shedskin)
PyPy isn't the only Python optimisation show in town. Shedskin can [sometimes] run an order of magnitude faster than pypy without much work.
