I love trying out camera apps for the iPhone and this was one of the better ones out there. My current favourites are CameraBag, Mill Colour & AutoStitch. Now we just need some half-decent video editing apps and I'll be happy :) - CannonGod from BuddyFeed

Surgeons Use Twitter To Perform Surgery
Actually, they Twittered the surgery they were doing - headline is misleading. But still: Wow! - Sarah Perez from Bookmarklet
I've heard they play music in the OR but twitter?! I can only pray it will be used in case they get stuck and are twittering a topflight surgeon at the Mayo or Sloan-Kettering for advice when I am on the table. :) - Melanie Reed

fascinating how social media is influencing and breaking into our day to day lives. we live in wonderful times ! :D - Tibi Puiu
If my surgeon was twittering instead of surgeoning, I'd be PISSED. People pay TONS of money and wait AGES and sacrifice lots to get surgery. I can't see how twittering can improve the system or the procedures, I think it's a waste of time, and they shouldn't be doing it. In their spare time, sure, please, I'd love if they did, but social media has nothing to do with healthcare imo. - Will Higgins™

“Friendfeed feature request. Why can't I subscribe to a discussion once I've commented on it? So I'd then be notified in some way about new comments, either via email or through IM.” - http://friendfeed.com/e...
I've been thinking about a similar idea. Currently, FF has the ability for one to "mark" a conversation via 'like' and/or leaving a comment (and one can sort entries by either of those methods). Both 'like' and leaving a comment are ways to publicly "mark" an entry or conversation. How about a way to privately "mark" an entry? - coldbrew
It's called "bookmarking". Try delicious.com. Would be nice if FF built some bookmarking in I suppose. - Boris Gordon
How would bookmarking allow me to receive FF IM notifications? - Paul Grav
Like many feature requests, FF's Rooms can be used for such a purpose. Although it's not perfect, and does not provide alerts, I just reshare items of interest to a private room in order to easily find them again. - coldbrew
Wow, I didn't even realise FF did IM notifications. I see the use of a subscription system and will probably try coldbrew's room solution now. Cool. - Boris Gordon
@Boris. The IM notifications are great. I just wish I could enable them on shared items that have been shared by others. - Paul Grav
@coldbrew: wow, awesome workaround. thanks for posting that tip! - Sarah Perez
This is just the ability to bookmark a conversation within FF. Like coldbrew said, no alerts here as you lose all the comments when you reshare because of the extra level of indirection. - Boris Gordon
@Boris. That's a shame. I think most people know how to bookmark a conversation. My feature request is specifically about receiving alerts. - Paul Grav
The more I think about it, the more I want to be able to have per conversation "add to room" or "notifiy by IM" settings in FF. - Boris Gordon
To the best of my knowledge, the best way currently to track new discussion and comments in Friendfeed threads which you have liked or posted comments to is to create a bookmark (call it FFD for Friendfeed Discussion) on your Firefox Bookmarks Toolbar pointing to this URL: http://friendfeed.com/paulgra.... Click on the bookmark periodically and scroll down the page looking for new comments. There should be a better way to do this. - Sean McBride
Even a page that shows comments (not discussion) made on discussions that you've commented on or liked. Then you could subscribe to it via RSS. I don't really care about the method of notification. RSS, IM and email are all fine with me. I'm just tired of having to manually look for comments. - Paul Grav
I'm going to give RSS a go in various forms but having added this whole room to IM (which is as granular as can be done at the moment), just to test it out, I can see that it would be the preferred method mainly because I can reply immediately and it is added to the conversation. - Boris Gordon from IM
Paul, yes, something simply like a button to say track further comments then a page to show all the comments after yours. Will make FF so much better and I'll find keeping up with replies to my comments so much easier! - Kol Tregaskes
Kol, absolutely. I feel like a troll sometimes when I comment on something, then realise sometime later that someone had taken the time to respond and I had completely missed it. - Paul Grav
I'd like to propose naming this function 'watch', anyone else have a name suggestion? - coldbrew
How about "en garde" sounds so Euro cool - sofarsoShawn
"Watch" works for me. If we're already taking about implementation, then there should be an checkbox below "Send an IM when someone comments on my posts" in your account settings that says something like: "Send an IM when someone comments on posts that I'm watching". If anyone has any better suggestions, feel free..... - Paul Grav from IM
It really wouldn't even require any sort of new "Watch" link or new "feature", other than something on the settings page, perhaps. Items you comment on or Like should automatically show up the same way Friend of Friend posts do. The text could simply be "... (You commented on this)...". - Ken Sheppardson
What about the situation where you don't necessarily want notifications on a particular post that you've commented on or liked? "Watch" would allow for more freedom but additional complexity. - Paul Grav from IM
Paul: Hide it. - Ken Sheppardson
Yeah, that would suit me. I just hope someone from FF is watching this. - Paul Grav from IM
Sign me up for a "watch" feature, on all posts. It's just one more level of bringing something to the surface. - Edward Zwart
