But if it's worth it to you - and if you're looking at the photos on flickr - why not just contact the photographer directly to see if they'll work out a way for you to purchase the photo? Not that I'm any kind of great artist by any stretch of the imagination, but I license all my stuff non-commercial, but for people who have asked (nicely), I usually let them use the work free of charge. Like my mom used to say, "You don't ask, you don't get."

Then I would suggest you take your own photos or use Zemanta. I have a non-com on my photos, but for most people who ask nicely, I let them use for free. Otherwise, yes, I'm getting paid.

well, another factor is that a lot of people are fine with a site like ReadWriteWeb using their photos with attribution but they put non-commercial conditions on for larger companies.

Funny thing is, I wouldn't consider a photo's use on a blog post as a commercial use. But perhpas I'm in the minority.

well Steven, the blog does make money, it's how I make my living. and if there was a really simple way to use community members' photos and pay them for it, then I would. since I don't know of a way to do so, then best condition for me is attribution and payment with a link

John, yes, we've certainly discussed CC but haven't moved on it yet. None the less, with text you can sample what we've written and just give attribution. With photos?

Seems like there's an opportunity for a third party service here... something that used the Flickr API and/or integrated with all the different photo sharing services. A matchmaking service to hook up folks like RWW who want to use and are willing to pay for photographs and photographers who might not already have the infrastructure in place to sell their work.

I'm talking about a service that allows content consumers to pay content producers i.e. photographers for their images where the photographer hasn't already set up some sort of ecommerce capability like that offered by Smugmug, Zenfolio, or a bunch of other professional photographer-oriented sites. Zemanta does that?

Και να δούμε τις πολιτικές διαστάσεις και αποχρώσεις μίας περιβαλλοντικής πολιτικής. Είναι πολύ εύκολο στο όνομα της προστασίας του περιβάλλοντος να οδηγηθούμε πολιτικές που πλήττουν πιο σκληρά τους πιο ασθενείς: ας μην ξεχνάμε ότι αν π.χ. βάζαμε ένα "πράσινο φόρο" στους δήμους (αντιστρόφως) ανάλογο με το πράσινο που διαθέτουν, τα "καλά" προάστια δεν θα πλήρωναν τίποτα.

Σήμερα που έμειναν τελικά δύο υποψήφιοι για την ΝΔ, προσπαθώ να παρακολουθήσω την αντιπαράθεση. Ακούω για ιδεολογική σύγκρουση. Επειδή δεν έχω ακούσει τις θέσεις τους, πού συγκρούονται Σαμαράς και Μπακογιάννη; Οποιαδήποτε βοήθεια ευπρόσδεκτη -αφήστε σχόλια.
Υπάρχει διαφοροποίηση στα θέματα εξωτερικής πολιτικής; οικονομίας; περιβάλλοντος; μεταναστών; σχέσεις κράτους-εκκλησίας; Που και ποιες είναι οι διαφορές τους;

Παναγιώτη η Μπακογιάννη μιλάει για άνοιγμα και διεύρυνση της βάσης σε πιο πολυσυλλεκτική λογική, και ο Σαμαράς μιλά για κλείσιμο στα στενά "κεντροδεξιά" (δεξιά ενννοεί) πλαίσια "για να μαζέψουμε τους δικούς μας που έφυγαν, αντί να ψάχνουμε άλλους ψηφοφόρους που δεν είναι δικοί μας". Εκεί είναι οι ουσιαστικές, οι μεγάλες διαφορές, Παναγιώτη. Δεν είναι στις θέσεις γιυα τους μετανάστες ή το ασφαλιστικό που όλοι μοιάζουν ίδιοι τις περισσότερες φορές. Είναι το τι ακροατήρια θα αναζητήσει το κάθε κόμμα μελλοντικά.

Καλά.... Σας θυμίζω τις συγκρούσεις Σημίτη, Τσοχατζόπουλου, Αβέρωφ, Μητσοτάκη, και άλλες παρόμοιες. Ο νικητής στο τέλος καθόριζε τη φυσιογνωμία του κόμματος του με τρόπο καθοριστικό (σε σχέση με τον αντίπαλο) χωρίς να μιλάνε για ασφαλιστικό ή μεταναστευτικό.

η Μπακογιάννη μιλά για πιο δημοκρατικό (με συγκεκριμένες προτάσεις) κόμμα, που θα ελέγχει την ηγεσία και θα ανοιχτεί περισσότερο στην κοινωνια. Επίσης είναι σαφώς πιο φιλελεύθερη στο ζήτημα των μεταναστών, αλλά και στην οικονομία

επίσης, η Ντόρα έχει εκφρασει πολλές φορές τις απόψεις και τις ιδέες της, ιδέες που ακούγονται να είναι δικές της και αποτέλεσμα ζύμωσης. Ο κ.Σαμαράς δε μας κάνει τη χάρη να λέει. πόσο μάλλον να δημοσιεύει, τις δικές του απόψεις. σίγουρα ο επόμενος πρόεδρος θα διαμορφώσει το κόμμα, θα αλλάξει πορείες κλπ δεν λέω όχι... αλλά αυτή την στιγμή δεν γίνεται καμμία ουσιαστική αντιπαράθεση στο επίπεδο που ζητάει ο Παναγιώτης... σε κάθε περίπτωση ακόμα αναφέρονται στους δικούς τους ψηφοφόρους, δεν βγαίνουν στην κοινωνία για να πάρουν ψήφο εμπιστοσύνης

Ο Ανδρέας π.χ. με αυτό που είπε μου θύμισε το μόνο πράγμα για το οποίο έχουν συγκρουστεί ως τώρα, την διαδικασία εκλογής προέδρου, με τον Σαμαρά να ζητάει εκλογή από την βάση και την Μπακογιάννη να προσπαθεί να προτιμάει το Συνέδριο. Είναι μία διαφοροποίηση.

Νίκο, Ανδρέα υπάρχει μια αναντιστοιχία σε όσα είπε η Μπακογιάννη. Αδυνατώ να καταλάβω πως η Μπακογιάννη υπόσχεται διεύρυνση της βάσης όταν αρχικά δεν ήθελε την εκλογή απο την βάση και αργότερα αρνήθηκε την συμμετοχή στα "μη μέλη" στην ψηφοφορία.

Επίσης μια ακόμα επισήμανση. Κατα την διάρκεια της διαδικασία εκλογής προέδρου στο ΠΑΣΟΚ, λεγόταν οτι αυτός που μπορούσε να διευρύνει την βάση ήταν ο Βενιζέλος και οτι ο Παπανδρέου επιθυμούσε ένα καθαρό ΠΑΣΟΚ που σταδιακά θα οδηγούσε στην συρρίκνωση του, κάτι που αποδείχθηκε λάθος. Το θέμα είναι να ξεφύγουν απο αυτή την συζήτηση γιατί - τουλάχιστον στο ΠΑΣΟΚ - αποδείχθηκε οτι δεν είχε αξία.

Δυστυχώς έχει δίκιο. Σε αντίθεση με ό,τι είχαμε συνηθίσει στο pasok.gr, όπου όλες οι ανακοινώσεις, όλες οι πληροφορίες ήταν σχεδόν σε πραγματικό χρόνο διαθέσιμες, σήμερα αναγκαζόμαστε να μαθαίνουμε την πληροφορία από τα ΜΜΕ. Υπάρχει σημαντικό έλλειμμα πληροφόρησης -με βάση τα standards που είχε θέσει η διαδικτυακή πρακτική του ΠΑΣΟΚ.

Just ran into this on stackoverflow.com... they have logos for 10 different OpenID providers or your own URL and I think I have IDs on 8 of them... and I have no idea which one I used to create my account.

Seeing individual engineers and marketing folks from MSFT at different events reminds me alot of my old NASA days, when you'd always find some sort of "rogue" engineer off working on pretty much any project you can imagine. Every once in a while all the "rogue" engineers from the different centers who were working on similar projects would get together... but they were rarely funded and projects never went anywhere. But on the flip side... I'm glad they're involved :-)

openid support is a defensive move because they don't want google to dominate the openid space. if activity stream content expires after some period of time when it leaves Facebook, then that is another defensive move and one that is not truly open.

Scott, I'm not sure they've said much about that content expiring. As long as you're a user I'm pretty sure you're able to get your content out, no exceptions. Developers have a few more strict rules, but nothing's stopping a client from enabling that for users themselves. Αστειευομαι φυσικα Παναγιωτη, και συμφωνω απόλυτα με τον τροπο που γινεται η επιλογη. Αλλα θα πρεπει να ειναι ξεκαθαρο ποια πρεπει να ειναι τα προσοντα για μια θεση, ακομη και προεδρου. Με μια ματια που εριξα, εχω τα τυπικα προσοντα και θα μπορουσα να κανω αιτηση για καποιες απο τις θεσεις. Αλλα αυτο δεν ειναι αρκετο.
