Crap. I accidently clicked "ignore" on an invitation from someone in Google reader, but I actually wanted to follow. How do I fix it so I can follow that person??
you can get that person to add you again, or you can search for them by name or add them by email address.
- Jenna Bilotta
you can also look at the list of your followers, find that person and follow them back. you can get to your list of followers from the "sharing settings" page.

I didn't get a chance to ignore you, so I'll unfollow and see...

"Yesterday, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing to discuss the reauthorization of the USA Patriot Act. Committee member Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) used his question-and-answer period to investigate the provision that authorizes “roving wiretaps,” expressing concern that the law does not require federal authorities to identify the target with specificity before proceeding with surveillance. Franken then read the Fourth Amendment to one of the panelists, Assistant Attorney General David Kris, emphasizing that, “no Warrants shall issue but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.” “That’s pretty explicit language,” noted Franken, asking Kris how the “roving wiretap” provision meets that constitutional requirement."

We are a nation in search of a collective “spiritual identity”. I’m not sure one ever really existed, but we are fed a line of religious malarkey that “assumes” a particular vain of “Christian” logic as though it were and always has been intrinsic to our national identity … It’s a load of religious bull shit. August 31, 2009 Fuel Efficient Sports Car from BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept sports car from BMW combines superb driving performance with extremely low fuel consumption. The power and performance are made possible by combining a fuel-efficient 3-cylinder turbodiesel with one electric motor on each axle. The special arrangement of the two motors and diesel engine allows all-wheel drive when driving in all-electric mode. The result is minimum power loss and a harmonious transmission of the power available under all conditions.

"Yesterday I added a new folder to my Google Reader Subscriptions; "Google Reader Shared". To that folder I added ( one by one ) each of the people that I follow on Google Reader. I set 'People you follow' to display only the unread items and to display the newest items first. I also set my subscriptions the same."

I did not notice it yesterday, but today I see that when I click on a friends name in 'People you follow', the same name is highlighted in 'Google Reader shared'. So, being curious I clicked on the highlighted name in the lower subscription list. That's when I noticed something very interesting. I can see comments, and add comments in my Subscription Folders. It's a good thing I did this, because this morning Google Reader lost it's comments ( for some of us anyway ). I can view shared items in my subscription list, while Comment view is down.

I suppose each Google service is taking a turn at behaving oddly. I found today that when I subscribed to a GR feed, it took a long time before GR finally showed the addition plus what folder I put the person in so they could comment. I do appreciate your posting ways to improve the GR experience. Thank you.

So I've started a blog, The Shibboleth, that's meant to discuss topics of faith, philosophy of religion, and theology from the perspective of a once-atheist, now rediscovering Christian (i.e., me). I'm having a bit of a writer's block tonight, so FriendFeed, I'm asking for your help. Any ideas?
My brain's drained working on my own new blog but I'm 100% on board with you via RSS.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Sounds like an interesting concept if nothing else!
- Nation Hahn
Thanks, guys. It's been something I've been meaning to do for a while. Hopefully it'll be interesting!

Mark, thanks for sharing your journey. I read your most recent entries today and watched this TED talk. http://www.ted.com/talks... There are some really good questions in the comments section. Questions that you have touched on and I reflected on after consideration of your posts. Edit: Doug Walton's Q in particular.
- Eric Logan
Eric: I don't know if I want to touch on evolution so soon after the last post on it (http://theshibboleth.com/2009...), but I think the comment still makes the same fallacy Hunter outlines. Having studied artificial intelligence, Walton misunderstands or underestimates the state of strong AI. most strong AI work is exactly what he seems to believe can't...

Cool, Derrick: hopefully this is right up your alley. I think tonight I'm going to go with the trilemma (Jesus must be a liar, a lunatic, or Lord).

do you have to believe in God in order to... call yourself an observant religious person?

Discuss the book "the life of pi". Thought provoking.

I like the "Ask a Catholic" idea, and will look for that!

when I first talked to the rabbi about converting, I asked him if I had to believe in G-d, and I was prepared to say that it was something I couldn't do if my conversion would make me a hypocrite. But he said that if I came to him and said I *knew* G-d existed, he would no more advice me to convert than he would if I came to him and said I knew G-d *didn't* exist. [felt the need to omit the "o" in this comment, out of respect for my rabbi, and Jews, and my conversion.]
- edythe
Mark, do you listen to the Catholic Insider or Daily Breakfast podcasts?
- joey
edythe: that's interesting, and different from the starting position one's supposed to have before formally converting to Christianity. joey: I don't have the patience to listen to podcasts.
- Mark Trapp
Whoa Mark, that's interesting, indeed! Good luck in your spiritual journeys. They will be interesting, I can vouch for that. And for your blog, maybe you could touch on "intelligent design" principles. And a good site is 'Reasons to Believe'. I think it's http://www.reasons.org (forgive me if that URL is wrong. In which case, you can simply Google for it)

Yay, I learned something new about a cool friendfeeder. Tis nice when to jump back and feel the same stuff.

I learned early on in my days of FriendFeed to not mess with Mark on issues of Christianity and Catholicism. I've learned a lot from him and his blog on the subject continues to illuminate. It's good stuff.

"Earlier this week, the Wall Street Journal reported that AHIP — the multimillion dollar lobbying juggernaut for the health insurance industry — has mobilized 50,000 employees to lobby Congress to defeat the public option. ThinkProgress has learned that AHIP’s grassroots lobbying is being managed by the corporate consulting firm Democracy Data & Communications. DDC has made a name for itself as one of the most effective stealth lobbying firms. Earlier this summer, DDC was caught by reporters using a front group called “Citizens for a Safe Alexandria” to attack the Obama administration for seeking to prosecute Guantanamo Bay prisoners in Alexandria, VA."

"this morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US department of energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the national weather service of the national oceanographic and atmospheric administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the national aeronautics and space administration.
