Dorothea: It was one of several small events at an "Uncommons" area--a corner in the convention center with 30 or so seats, some tables, a projector, whiteboard and some other technology, that could be scheduled in half-hour or hour increments during (and, I guess, just before) Midwinter. This was a chance to talk about failures--and it actually worked fairly well. - Walt Crawford
The Uncommons is another example of how ALA is mixing unconference/lobbycon concepts in with the formal conferences. I strongly suspect Jenny L. has a lot to do with this, and so far these initiatives seem to be working well. (By all accounts, the full-day unconference embedded into last summer's Annual was a success.) - Walt Crawford
You'd be right re: Jenny. Hopefully there will be more interestingness like this at Annual. I've got some more to say about one of your paragraphs (spot the theme...) but I'm gonna think on it a bit before responding. - Jason Griffey
