Apropos of nothing in particular, I'm reminded once again that introverts (like me) are one minority that folks (speakers, etc.) typically don't have qualms about attacking or throwing under the bus.
noting and stating that different personality types have different roles in our libraries doesn't strike me as an attack or "throwing under the bus".

Jenica: Since I wasn't referring to you, I'm not sure why you feel the need to respond. If someone says "Shy introverts are probably not the best choices for library directors," I'd be inclined to agree.

I see people sniggering about introverts and behaving as though only extroversion is normal (or heatlhy) pretty much every day. I'm aware that introversion has been proposed as a mental illness. "Apropos of nothing in particular" meant exactly that.

Certainly it can feel that our (CILIP's) model of professionalism is predicated on being 'out there' and such.
