It was a little harsh, but sometimes you have to take it overboard to make sure your point doesn't fade away once the reader is gone
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
ps check out some of the flickr photos some kids saved off of myspace before all profiles were set to private - one of em calls sarah palin mominlaw - so maybe it's the son's girlfriend's baby. ok to have 1 out of wedlock but 2? that'd be scandalous! i dunno, but foller the links. not to mention our good boy Levi is in a pic w/ some good ole fashion underage drinkin. http://allied.blogspot.com/2008...
- jeneane sessum
I find the underage drinking and all that to be fine, and the pregnancy is somewhat tragic, but the "moral majority" types must really be getting the creeps about all of this.
- Anthony Citrano
I don't think you went overboard. Not as much as the self righteous right wing Rush/Rove fans take things. Its about time we call them on their shit.
- CW™
you guys are un-fucking believable.
- David Risley
Although it is bad, I'm not all that upset about the underage drinking, except that, again, these kids were probably never clued in to what would have been expected of them as children of a politician, and, as a result, were never held at a higher standard - by the PARENTS. That Levi seems to be a piece, though, let me tell you...
- Helen Sventitsky
Helen, the children of prominent public officials can pretty much do what any other normal kids would do, provided there is an appropriate level of discretion among the other friends. (As well it should be.)
- Anthony Citrano
And apparently that discretion among other friends has been minimal to non-existent, LOL!
- Helen Sventitsky
Lame post. So much anger. People too far to the left or right are crazy.
- Scott Wamsley
@Helen, good point. I've gotten in / caused all kinds of trouble with kids from similarly situated families, but none of us were taking pictures for our Myspace pages.
- Anthony Citrano
...whoa! Harsh? Perhaps, but sometimes you just have to get it out of your system. I think the situation makes Palin's "family values" aspect run a little shallow, but such things happen. Hopefully, the young Bristol Palin will not become another Britney Spears or other such nit-wit.
- JA Castillo
I think the most interesting thing to come out of this is that Palin issued a statement saying she and her husband were "proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby." Decision = Choice. Is this an acknowledgment that there was a choice involved? Press release here: http://tinyurl.com/5zo726
- Steve Lowe
I noticed that as well Steve and that comment is fair game for political discussion I feel. But Obama can't say it, neither can Biden. However, it needs to be pointed out.
- R. Ferguson
Damn. Dammmmmmmmmmmmn. LOL @Steve, I agree, people forget to acknowledge that keeping a baby conceived out of wedlock is a choice.
- Trish R
You forgot to mention: Palin eloped and had her first kid *8* months later. Is it a double-whammy of Palin hypocrisy?
- Kevin Hessel
Ah...Nice discussion. Good point, Steve, but then it begs the question: did Bristol make the choice? Or was the choice made for her? We may never know. And yes, Greg, you are out of touch. :p
- Helen Sventitsky
this will break your fuckin' heart right here....
- Ňicķ
I know. i read this through someone else's share last night... good god. i suppose that she lived is a good thing? maybe. at first i thought it was the same story as the one about the 14-yr-old girl...if not worse, just as bad. actually, worse. because in this case people didn't know this girl existed. in the other story, plenty of people had checked in. :((
- edythe
lived there as a kid/teen - a very good culture for the most part
- mike "glemak" dunn
Not very weird at all. I highly recommend it. The living in Hawaii idea that is. Not the giving up part. I did that and now I'm in Chicago this summer trying to catch up so that I can go back before it gets cold. --- if anyone wants to do a start-up on Kauai, PLEASE let me know. I am so in. --- http://tinyurl.com/5mm8xh

oh dear... just watched the video Mark links above... not sure what to say
- Internet's Tad
Oh my god. I can't find the words. I do not know how to describe or explain this. At least with the other video you could just say bad satire. After the past week, how can you release this video?
- Rob Diana
Yikes. That passes my litmus test. Whether truly a rascist or just acting out for attention, that is putrid stuff.
- Mathew A. Koeneker
from fftogo
Loren Feldman is either a racist or is choosing to use racist humor to create a firestorm of commentary that results in links, traffic, and personal reputation. Either way, he is not deserving of any mindshare or attention. Lets just ignore and BLOCK him and move on to more important issues.
- Elliott Ng
The conversation is building again: "Ignore him, he's a sorry excuse for humanity" or "Those who ignore him are just as guilty." I tend toward the former but another commenter the other day implied that meant I had no morals or ethics. If nothing else, we can all agree that he's pathetic and needs to climb back under his rock.
- Carla Thompson
I had never heard of him until reading this, so I'll just move on and forget his name in thirty seconds.
- Rob Reed
You know, I've really liked a lot of Loren's stuff in the past -- most of it actually. I think this video though is sad. It's not at all funny. It's meant to be inflammatory without any redeeming quality that I can find. Even though it's humor, even though it's a puppet, I find it racist as well. That's too bad.
- Thomas Hawk
Thomas: Sorry that you like or liked Loren's stuff. I have always thought him a bit of a slimeball
- Brian Sullivan
I'm sure he'll continue to argue he's not a racist, but whether he is or not doesn't matter to me. Being as painfully stupid and unfunny as he is, should be a crime of some sort.
- Richard Lawler
from twhirl
Like Thomas, I really a like a lot of his stuff (his puppet interviews with people in the tech industry were great among other things), he's very smart and talented, but I always kinda imagined him as reincarnated Nazi officer or something like that. The whole 1938 thing, his theme song, his looks and voice. Makes me think of World War II. It'd sure be interesting to have a talented psychic do a reading on him! I have nothing against him though, and look forward to see what he has in store.
- Vincent X
yeah I really do wish that people who insist on linking to him, even if just to point out his racist jackassery, would use either nofollow, or title="racist asshole"
- Ross McKillop
Vinny, I think Feldman might be able to pull something like that off if he did it right in part because he's Jewish. In the same way that Chris Rock can pull some of his humor off because he's black. You have to be careful with racial sterotype stuff though. I think that this video 1. is not funny or intelligent and 2. is racist and alienates a whole bunch of people for no discernible reason that I can tell. It's a bad move and bad for Loren and his show.
- Thomas Hawk
oh he's at it again.. he did this earlier in his career too (da N video @podtech) .. he's pushing the envelope again. once is a mistake , twice means he's stupid !
- Peter Dawson
Just watched it because of the comments... Don't like it, not funny, won't spend more time on 1938media... Perhaps pointing me to it isn't that bad after all ;)
- Marco
Feldman strikes me as the kinda guy who would pound his thumb with a hammer thirty times in a row just to prove that he actually meant to miss the nail the first time.
- Roger Benningfield
I didn't even really get the appeal before, but now... It's like he wants to be known as a racist.
- Sarah Perez
the unkown spamming & the self promotion drive me nuts
- clarke thomas
Yeah, but it's hard to use FaceBook (period) without looking like a noob. ;)
- Czar
I think this is against Facebook rules now. There should be a link somewhere on the application canvas that allows you to report an application for forcing you to send out invites. Although, who wants to bother? I just ditch the app too.
- Nathan Rein
facebook has been turning into myspace slowly but surely. it'll be useless before you know it.
- sean808080
It's hard being open, yet organized. (ie. controlled chaos). Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
- Scott Wamsley
So much of facebook is a rehash of the same spam that churned out in email - save the planet by email! check out this awesome (sucky) joke! here's a fake present! - I check my messages there, and that's about it.
- Jennifer Dittrich
I must say delivery sucks now days. When I delivered the paper it was to the porch, now I get it at the end of my driveway.
- Michael Tefft
Only paper I read at all is the local indie uber-left wing rag which is free. Sometimes there's interesting stuff in there. Other times I'm embarassed to read it.
- Internet's Tad
Whenever I hear about something being "dead", I immediately assume it's based on life in Silicon Valley.

I haven't received a regular, local newspaper in years. We do receive, however, JTNews (a Washington State Jewish newspaper).
- Akiva Moskovitz
Newsprint sucks. I hate getting that black ink on my hands.
- Scott Wamsley
It's barbecue season, so I need the paper to start the grill.
- Michael Markman
Atlanta Journal Constitution here. Gotta have the sports page and local news.
- Russellreno
I need the newspaper. Don't see me getting rid of it anytime soon.
- Parth Awasthi
I understand not wanting to see other people's underwear...but don't public officials have more important issues to vote on? This increasing trend of elected officials creating social laws is really irritating me!

"In my younger years, I was a big fan of those little cookie shops in the mall. While others went for the giant cookies and even those double doozies, I was much more likely to go for the cheesecake brownies. It’s hard to say no to a combination of cheesecake and chocolate."
- Jason Toney
from Bookmarklet
I was going to make lemon cheesecake squares for the party this weekend but I might have to make these instead.
- Michelle Jones
cheesecake and brownie? That's just too much sexy in one dessert. </swoon>
- Cheryl
This must have been the first time, "Like" in FriendFeed really made sense.
- Benedikt Koehler
While it isn't as good as cheesecake brownies, my wife does make cheesecake with chocolate graham crackers for the crust. It's pretty damned awesome.

Nice! 173 times in 30 secs (Extremely High - Excessive Energy, Spastic) ... even after 3 beers at lunch.

Mona, I'm just using the MacBook Pro trackpad.

clicked 227 times in 30 seconds - "Near Death - Delusions of Godlike power" - i guess i shouldn't head out and cut the grass - should spend the last few remaining minutes with loved ones.

Very High - Productive Worker, Jittery... I had one of those big bottles of Starbucks Cold Coffee drink things this morning... too much bean

221 times in 30 seconds - and I have never touched Caffeine in my life. I call this test fake with language that censors itself 'coz I'm supposed to see/hear/feel only NC17 stuff.
- Yuvi
Is 7 a bad score or did I just realize that I have ADD? ;)
- Kevin C. Tofel
Since it appears that there are lots of Caffeine gods here - can I ask why you drink coffee? I've heard that it's addictive, but benificial too - so, should I risk it and get addicted? thoughts?
- Yuvi
LOL@TAD! It's called a natural high (caffeinated)
- Mona Nomura
224 times in 30 seconds. Most of time flash plugin was unable to follow click speed. I hate Flash & Adobe and all mice-dragging-pseudosoftware for keeping me less productive. Long live keyboard and command line interface. Test has been done on Nokia N800 ;)
- A.T.
Yuvi, this is actually a low caffeine day for me - two cups :-). I hit 246 on my last try - i recently picked up an Apple Mighty Mouse and hadn't noticed till today that it has some awesome responsiveness.

You clicked 170 times in 30 seconds. Your caffeine level for today is: Extremely High - Excessive Energy, Spastic

Just watch a little kid, like 5 or 6 years old, and tell me they don't have natural caffiene... Once you hit like 26 or 27 and for sure by 30 all that natural stuff is gone. Drinking coffee before 30 is kinda redundant. :D

gdocs doesn't do to well with arabic, so i'm sticking to ooffice <3

My name is Jason, and I've been off Microsoft Word for over a year now. I can't even imagine my life on that stuff anymore. I'm still apologizing to all my friends and family that I hurt during those dark years.
- J450N
I think he meant to say that he gave Microsoft 'The Word Bird'
- J450N
I use Openoffice at home, work just upgraded my office suite to 2007 about 2 weeks ago. Word just keeps getting more difficult to use and has too many options.
- Dylan McIntosh
losers....notepad is and always will be the best! ;)
- royce kitts
i keep going back and forth. I prefer the functions on excel to google docs but Word is always fighting with my MAC and i may soon move everything over to Goggle Docs. I already use it as storage for my files
- Theda
i use thinkfree and zoho (ocassionally). hate the bloat that is office
- Cee Bee
My fave was a coworker who wanted a design and signage for her family reunion. Why in the world would I do that for free?
- Jeannette Gutierrez
As for family & friends, unless we share 50% of our DNA, or a bed, you pay the going rate! (The 50percenters and bed mates get it free.)
- Jeannette Gutierrez
I face the same 'discount issue' with my jewelry. I should eat the cost of my supplies and not charge for my time because I know you?
- Yolanda
Wow, jewelry's even tougher I bet b/c it already exists so you should just give it to them :) Yeah, one day I'd like to find the perfect thing to say that's diplomatic and kind, but points out to them what they are really asking...
- Jeannette Gutierrez
"SI.com has learned that for the first time in history, a major presidential candidate may sponsor a race car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series."
- newsjunk.com
Smart move. Fastest growing sport in the country in terms of fans for a few years now. Plus the NASCAR season ends in November, so the timing is good for Obama and consumers. ;)
- Kevin C. Tofel
The novelty/news value would give the 49 car some rare TV time. Usually it has to wreck to get on screen
- Dave Pelland
NASCAR hardly fits in with the 'elitism' meme, which is also a good move.
- Alexander Carlill
Tim: I hope you're going to vote for him rather than the angry Republican.
- Alexander Carlill
i just wished the obama campaign had sponsored a better car than the 49. it prob won't make the race and will just open the campaign for "FAIL!" jokes
- Sam Harrelson

I notice that the flickr thumbnails of your photos appear sharper and contrastier than the zooomr thumbnails here in friendfeed. The flickr ones certainly seem 'punchier'.
- Nick Takayama
not sure Nick, They look the same to me at least on my Mac's monitor. Can other people tell a difference between these thumbnails and these: http://friendfeed.com/e...
- Thomas Hawk
I aggre with Nick -- I am guessing just a function of whatever processing both sites do to get from the uploaded pictures to the thumbnails. Wasn't there a huge stink awhile ago with people claiming Flickr altered their pictures around this issue?
- Brian Sullivan
Color and saturation look the same, but it looks like Flickr does apply a sharpen on thumbnail creation. Viewed from Windows Firefox3 w/ color mgmt turned on.
- Mark Anderson
Now that you mention it, the flickr thumbnails do look slightly sharper and have a higher contrast
- Andrew Smith
I also see a slight quality difference between Flickr and Zoomr thumbnails here on FF, Flickr being slightly sharper or Zoomer softer. Using a Mac, FF3 (with the config set to better graphics), Samsung 24" LCD. On my second monitor, an older LG, can't really see anything different, Vladimir being one that is real obvious. Viewing them on Flicker and Zoomer I really can't tell a difference so I am guessing it has to do with the thumnails - [ed: actually, the two images on Flickr/Zoomr are diff by 1px wide]
- William Reveal
Only noticed because of Nick´s comment. Vladimir is the most obvious one for me as well. Leadership is another one where I can more clearly see the black dots in Flickr than in Zooomr.
- Juan Pablo González
Definitely see same difference others mentioned (on a PC). But only when viewed side by side.
- Alexei Tolkachev
I just checked the thumbnails for the photos I uploaded last night to both services and the Flickr ones seem slightly sharper and more contrasty. I suspect that this is due to Kris backing off on the sharpening at Zooomr due to user complaints in the past of over sharpening. I hadn't noticed before until it was brought up here. It is rather subtle.
- Jeff P. Henderson
Currently it's coffee, but it changes. Later in the summer it will probalby be iced tea, then probably some type of diet soda after the weather turns to fall. Once winter kicks in I usually drink more hot tea than anything else.
- Joel Gray
from twhirl
Coffee until 9am. Then hot green tea or iced black tea, depending on mood.
- DGentry
coffee, and we just got 3 cases of m13 in the office which tastes horrible but has a big caffeine kick

For the past couple months or so, I've been having a large sweetened Zen (green) tea, iced. Before that, it was a small or medium iced white choc mocha (sometimes with an extra shot). When it is cold, I like the gingerbread or pumpkin latte.
- Yolanda
Usually DD iced coffee...been drinking green tea more often than not.
- David Ambrose
Diet Dr. Pepper. It takes more like real Dr. Pepper than any other drink.
- RAPatton
Coffee (easy on the water) + skim milk + Designer Whey Chocolate = coffee protein shake.
- Mike Reynolds
Coffee in the morning. Tea at night.
- Great Scott!
Green Tea in the afternoon with a hint of lemon and coffee in the morning
- Ryan
Green Tea straight... no sugar... no honey... no lemon... yah, I'm hardcore.
- Melissa
I drink tons of tea, but don't really think of it as being a caffeinated beverage. It's just... tea, you know? They give it to kids in Russia before bed so they sleep better. Otherwise, cappuccino, made right. Which happens just about once a year.
- Alexei Tolkachev
on the weekends, strong black coffee that i make in a cone filter. in the afternoons, a Diet Coke. At work I get a 4-shot latte. @Zach Landes: in L.A. they call that a Red Eye or a Depth Charge. :)
- edythe
In the summer time, it's ICED COFFEE!!!!!
- Anna Haro
Coffee, the Great Bean, in any form but Iced. Dunno why, but I never could drink it iced.
- Michael W. May
Quad over ice in a venti cup (espresso) or a misto.. and i'm addicted to diet coke ugh

The ATT store here only has 30 phones in stock with about 60 people in line. Bummer. The real pisser is they'll let you go ahead and set up an account and notify you when the phones are in stock. So, um, why couldn't we order them online to begin with??
