"Girls in Tech is a social network enterprise focused on the engagement, education and empowerment of like-minded, professional, intelligent and influential women in technology. As young women with the capacity to inspire, we made it our personal desire and passion to create and sustain an organization that focuses on the collaboration, promotion, growth and success of women in the technology sector. Created in February of 2007, ‘Girls in Tech’ (GIT) was founded by Adriana Gascoigne. GIT and was born out of a need to provide a place for women to cultivate ideas around their careers and business concepts involving technology. Girls in Tech aims to offer a variety of resources and tools for women to supplement and further enhance their professional careers and aspirations in technology. Some of these resources include, educational workshops and lectures, networking functions, round table discussions, conferences, social engagements, and recruitment events." - See-ming Lee 李思明 SML from Bookmarklet

We have taken the data from National Institute on Money in State Politics a nonpartisan organization dedicated to the documentation and research on campaign financing at the state level. For now we have used only data about Governors elected in 2006 and the top 100 donors. Currently we show only donors who donated to more than one candidate or a single donation bigger than 100000 $." - See-ming Lee 李思明 SML from Bookmarklet

"Today is Thanksgiving in the U.S. Traditionally we take stock of the things that we’re thankful for on this day each year. And I realized that one of those things is Steve Jobs. I’m thankful that he returned to Apple in 1997 and did the things he has done since. It wasn’t at all a certainty that he would ever return to the company that he cofounded two decades earlier. In fact, it was only luck and coincidence that pushed him back there." - See-ming Lee 李思明 SML from Bookmarklet

"We talk a lot about how big brands are embracing social media as a mechanism to connect directly with customers. Still, it’s much easier to talk about integrating social media into your brand than it is to actually do it. That’s why IKEA’s recent Facebook campaign is so awesome. The Swedish furniture company opened a new store in Malmo, Sweden and rather than spread the word the old-fashioned way, they decided to go directly to the people using Facebook. This video describes the campaign in detail:" - See-ming Lee 李思明 SML from Bookmarklet

"The grid is a commonly used component in both web and graphic design, promoting organization and alignment in the final output. Better alignment and order can, of course, lead to a more effective design, whether it is for print or the web. When used correctly, a grid can add user-friendliness to a design, allowing the user to predict where the information they need is placed. In order to receive the benefits of the grid, though, a correct use of the grid must be in place. Both inexperienced and experienced designers may not know how to correctly and effectively use a grid system. In this article, we’ll discuss various grid frameworks, examples of grid-based graphics and web design, and the advantages and disadvantages of using the style of design for your next project." - See-ming Lee 李思明 SML from Bookmarklet
i wanted to use magazeen on my blog, but my titles are too long... then i realized that i don't want classic magazine theme... simply because the site doesn't breathe... visually not flowing... don't like crowd thingz on blogs... - deborah hustic
@deborah.hustic Design your own! :) But I am in agreement with you that many of these designs are overly complex for my taste as well. I prefer clean, minimalist designs that work. "Analytics Intelligence constantly monitors your website's traffic. Anytime something significant happens, it adds an automatic alert in your Intelligence reports. If your bounce rate suddenly jumps on one of your referrals, Analytics Intelligence creates an alert. Of course, it's up to you to go find out that the bounce rate jumped because someone inadvertently changed the landing page. But you might not have noticed that there was a problem that needed fixing if your trusty assistant hadn't alerted you." - See-ming Lee 李思明 SML from Bookmarklet

"Suspicious activity" may be a misnomer. I'd prefer to call these "interesting + data points deviated from norm that may be of interest." It picks up things that I was not aware of previously like sudden gain of referrers from Friendfeed, sudden drop of bounce rate, etc - which previously I would have totally missed unless I was looking on several different graphs very carefully. - See-ming Lee 李思明 SML

"As businesses become globalized, so is our personal identity. I use both my Chinese and English name on my social media profiles. I have also noticed that people from many countries whose native language is not English tends to use both spellings simultaneously on their profile pages. As of now, Facebook is the only network (that I know of) that allow users to provide their names in 'alternative' spelling - this is where I use my name in Chinese characters, but in many instances it may be useful for you guys to implement an 'aka' feature. This would be helpful for aliases as well. In my case, See-ming Lee, 李思明 and SML are synonymous with one another, and different people address me depending in context and network. This trend is moving forward at a more rapid rate every day, as can be seen with many executives at advertising agencies who have adopted Chinese names when doing business in China - and if you do business in Japan as well, you will likely use a Japanese name on the business cards as well." - See-ming Lee 李思明 SML from Bookmarklet

"Over 2 billion mobile phone users have access to the web on a global scale. About 700 million of these users have or continue to use their mobile browsers to search the web on a consistent basis. As these numbers increase, the need for crisp, clean, and usable mobile websites are in high demand. Website owners with a large audience have already seen the benefits of having a mobile platform service their users. Just as many advancements in web development have become the standard, in the near future it’s predicted mobile websites will be at the forefront, and will also become more of a necessity rather than a commodity or luxury. In order to design a simple, effective, and attractive mobile website, there are a few ingredients that we need to add into the mix. This article should satisfy all of your basic needs for a mobile platform on your site." - See-ming Lee 李思明 SML from Bookmarklet

How do you post photos to Twitter? Do you mean your user avatar? - Glen Campbell, B.A.
@Glen.Campbell Most 3rd-party Twitter clients (mobile + desktop) by default uses http://twitpic.com as Twitter's photo posting service. The reason it is generally used is because no sign-up is necessary as you can login instantly using your Twitter account. See Wikipedia for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... - Twitpic is not officially affiliated with Twitter, so to your point it is technically not Twitter's fault if photos are not 'removed.' - See-ming Lee 李思明 SML

"The main difference is that Yahoo will now provide the option of browsing images or tweets related to a given query without having to leave the search results page to click over to the Yahoo News section, Cornett said. Bing surfaces photos and video in its News section but not necessarily in its main search results page, and Google takes a similar approach. Yahoo is using Twitter's public API to surface tweets, which are also run through a Yahoo algorithm to determine relevancy, Cornett said, declining to provide details on exactly how that works. Yahoo has not secured access to the "firehose" of tweets, whereas Microsoft and Google just signed deals for access to that data as part of their own bid to index tweets." - See-ming Lee 李思明 SML from Bookmarklet
