I am new to the 30 Day Challenge, and I just signed up for this Friend Feed, if anyone has any tips or suggestions for me that would be wonderful...
welcome to the 30DC! i still consider myself to be a rookie, but i've been following 30DC since 2007 (and successfully completed it). it's by far the best free internet marketing course i've seen. my two cents worth would be to experiment with the techniques on a "test niche" before actually applying them to your "real business" if you already have one. there may be things you decide to... more... - Jeremy Weiss

WP Direct v Wordpress ? How hard would it be to set up a WP Blog for SEO Optim and auto content (via FriendFeed) etc like WP Direct ? I'm a novice in terms of coding.

I thought that WPD had Latent Semantic Indexing which normal WP blogs didn't have? I don't know what that is though... =S - Art Y.
Thanks for the advice guys. Hey Sean why do you say use wp-omatic "with care" ? - Greg
good share greg - JuneM
I'm with Art Y., curious to know more about "Latent Semantic Indexing." Can anyone explain it to me? - Jeremy Weiss
LSI uses word associations to help search engines know more accurately what a page is about. In other words it means that the search engines index commonly associated groups of words in a document. SEOs refer to these same groups of words as “Long Tail Searches”. The majority of searches consist of three or more words strung together - Colossal Marketing™
ron, thanks for the explanation. i appreciate it! - Jeremy Weiss
No prob. It is much deeper than that, but thats the sweet and short of it :~) - Colossal Marketing™

Anyone here use the flip mino HD? I'm thinking of getting one, but I plan on using it for filming hockey instructional drills and skills (on the ice). How is it for filming high action? Also, is there an external mic jack? Curious for any feedback or experiences... - http://www.theflip.com/product...
I need to get one too!!! :) I've done some research and it seems that you can film almost everything with it. In terms of "high action", I saw a drag race filmed with the mino HD and the quality was awesome :) Just go to youtube and type in "mino HD test" or something like that - Robertas Domarkas
One thing to consider is camera "shake". Some digital cameras allow you to take a good 35-40 minutes of video...with image stabilization built into the camera. Takes good stills too. Just a thought. - Mike Staskiewicz
And note that while iPhoto can remove "shake", it takes a lot of processing. When the stabilization is done inside the camera itself, the video is basically ready for uploading or editing. Can still add more stabilization via iPhoto if necessary. - Mike Staskiewicz
Are you saying the flip doesn't have image stabilization built in? Do you have the flip? How shakey is it? I plan on using a tripod for most of the hockey footage... - Jeremy Weiss
I have a flip and there isn't a great deal of shake, a tripod removes entirely. http://www.vimeo.com/2737503 anyway. No external mic jack sound is still pretty good though - Allison
I used the flip mino HD to do an instructional video - BUT - for sports and if you are doing a lot of video you might want to consider a video camera - Ed Dale
Jeremy, Flip/Kodak/Creative etc. don't have image stabilization. No optical zoom. These are best for what I call "close encounters" when the subject is close and not moving about too much. For capturing sports and other action activities, I would go for a digital camcorder with memory card storage. Something like a Canon HF series for example. Another thing with Flip Mino is that you're limited to 1 hr of recording. With digital camcorders you can use a 16GB card (costs $20) and record upto 4 hours in HD. - Ritesh Lal
Thanks everyone for weighing in... it sounds like the Flip probably isn't the best for what I'm looking to do with the hockey stuff. Hard for me to admit that because it's so cool though... - Jeremy Weiss

Question: There are so many media outlets now (audio podcasts, video podcasts, blogs, video blogs, facebook etc...) How do you decide what you will post where? Do people like Ed Dale have a master plan about what and where they'll post, or do they just "go with the flow?" I'm interested to find out.
I would say it's all about leverage. If you have material in one form e.g. a written report then make it into a podcast and even a video too. As for social media, use as much as you can without overwhelming yourself. And as much as you can provide value on. I love Twitter, Friendfeed and Facebook for different reasons - Lisa
Lisa the first thought I had in my mind when I've read Jeremy's post was "It's all about leverage." LOL - Seriously Jeremy, you have to "squeeze out" everything that is possible out of your content, it doesn't matter whether it's an article, podcast, video or audio :) I could write a lot, but why should you listen to me? so check out this video by Matt Bacak - from 4:07 he "answers" your question :)))) http://www.youtube.com/watch... - Robertas Domarkas
Thank you both for the input... I hadn't thought of leverage in those terms before. Robertas, thanks for the vid, it was very helpful! - Jeremy Weiss

I finally did it!, took all the advice from 30DC/30DC+ and Immediate Edge and came up with my own product!, at last. This is a very proud day for me!. A big huge thanks to Ed,Dan,Bob and all the others 4 ur help, this stuff works!!. take a look, let me know what you think . - http://www.thetwittertechnique.com/
Elliot my friend! It is so awesome to see your first product! We went through the 30DC together and I haven't talked to you much lately. I guess we have both been very busy! :) Nice looking squeeze page! Let's catch up! - Michael Roberts
Absolutely!, Ive spent so much time on this I forgot to eat and shave, I've lost 100lbs, and the other day my wife had me arrested by animal control, they got reports of a yeti in her home!. Its great to see your Traffic Bug coming out!, you must be very proud too!:). - Elliot Webb
Submitted a PRWeb press release to give it a try, ill let you know how that goes too;)) - Elliot Webb
Many congratulations Elliot! That is a nice sales page & a great-sounding product. - Isha (Marysia)
Your product looks very awesome Elliot. :) Congrats! Would you mind sharing a bit about the process? Do you basically just make a product, set up a sales page and start marketing it right away? Or do you have need to have a main twitter website which you build up first, and then send visitors to your sales page? - Art Y.
Hi Art, are we talking about the process I took to make this product, or are we talking about the process inside The Twitter Technique?. let me know Art and ill get right back to u:) - Elliot Webb
I want to launch a product too, but I'm not sure if it's ok to start up with a sales pages straight away, or whether I need to build a website with traffic first, and then put up a sales page for them to go to... If I can just go straight into product creation and sales, that would be so convenient :) - Art Y.
Oh. I mean the process before you make the product. Like, in the TDC we learn to build up a niche site first, then put up affiliate links, and gradually get a lot of traffic first, then move on to product creation. But I was wondering if you could go into a niche, and immediately start with product creation (if you know what the ppl want already), and then put up a sales page right away without making a separate niche site - Art Y.
Sure Art, you can do it both ways, obviously if you have an established site traffic will be easier to come by, but even if you have just started you can put up a sales page and use PPC to drive traffic to it. Remember what Ed says in the 30DC, PPC is one of the quickest and most targeted ways to get traffic early, sure you have to pay for it, but if you do good keyword research you can find long tail keywords to add to your PPC Ad, that way you only pay around 10-25c a click. - Elliot Webb
I say if the keywords are right, and you know what your customers want, just go for it Art!!, if u need any PPC help let me know ok:) - Elliot Webb
Oic. Ok. Thanks Elliot! I've been wanting to make a product for so long, but my niche site failed miserably because the competition was too tough, so I couldn't use it as a pivot... I'll go directly to the sales page then :) - Art Y.
The only thing about a high competition niche is, if you do use PPC in that same niche your cost per click (CPC) is gonna be huge too, if you have Market Samurai Art check out the estimated adwords price in that first, this will just give you an idea of how much per click you will be paying. - Elliot Webb
Ok. It's not that the competition is high... it's quite low actually... but the thing is, the ppl at the top are extremely strong... and the keyword I'm targeting is strange... I won't rank for the long-tail keyword, but i'm ranking so easily for a short tailed one - Art Y.
Congratulations Elliot! We are proud of you too! - Buff Toast
Thanks Buff!!!:))) - Elliot Webb
Looks pretty good. I'm not buying, because of two facts. 1. On the video I can see that there's 200 followers, but you are following more people than that, which makes it look like the usual follow everybody and hope they follow back (I assume that you go into detail on how to find the right people to follow / target - not really the point). 2. There's no authority... I don't know you from a bar of soap, yet, there's no money back guarantee, so there's too much risk. Not meant to criticize, just my view. - Riaan
good lookin' sales page... let us know how it goes! - Jeremy Weiss
That a completely fair comment Riaan thanks for posting it, my argument to it is would you not want to follow potential customers back?, not only is it great feedback from your market, but you also get to see what they are talking about, maybe even possible product ideas to market to the in the future. And to be honest id rather be a shower cream than a bar of soap if you dont mind;). Good point about the guarantee, ill be looking into that;). Thanks Riaan - Elliot Webb
Sold my first report;))) - Elliot Webb
Fine, You can be a shower cream :) I'm with Ed Dale on this. If I follow everybody, it gets too noisy and I can't meaningfully interact with everybody. Thinking of creating niche specific accounts where I follow more people, but difficult to manage multiple accounts... Maybe use twirl for all niche accounts and tweetdeck only for main, dunno... Just not crazy about idea of following people to get them to follow back, That doesn't necessarily mean I'm right though. Congrats on the sale btw :) - Riaan
Congratulations Elliot on the sale! Very big day for you! *sniff sniff* Our little guy is all grown up now! - Michael Roberts
Brilliant work Elliot, so glad you are getting there, well done, you have taken a big step, we new you could :) congrats on the sale, you will have many more :)) - Tash
Congratulations on the sale! :) - Art Y.
Ya its a great feeling!, thanks to you all for your support over the last few weeks, hopefully by doing this I can give something back to you 30DC members by showing you how I did it all;). I made sale #2 about 10 mins ago!;)) - Elliot Webb
