Loic: I feel the same way to a certain extent. I think that people need variety and some longer form stimulation. I just bought a HARD COVER BOOK on Michelangelo and his subversive work on the Cistine Chapel. Its refreshing to read more than 140 characters at a time. It's all about balance. I don't think that the quality has gone down with online writing as much as after a while it all just seems the same. Online I feel well informed, but give me a good book and I feel like I really learn. old school.

Rather than information overload, it feels more like information tolerance. Like when you eat nothing but chocolate for a while, and at first it's great but it gets very old very fast. Same thing happens with all things web: getting a new information source resets your palette.

Maybe it's where I live (Miami) but guys definitely want girls who are thin and in shape. I think there is even more pressure down here than most places because it's the land of the beautiful people -- most people focus on the superficial -- and since it's ridiculously hot outside you can't hide underneath layers of clothes. I would say that almost all of the women I know (myself included) have body dismorphic disorder.

Agreed about the airbrushing!! I've been all of those sizes and *never* looked as "smooth and taught" as those women...lol. Hell, I've been a size 4 and not looked that perfectly skinned.

58% of those men who answered about their ladies' sizes said they didn't want the women to drop/lose any dress sizes. Sounds like more than half of them did think their mates were ideal. I don't know what dress size I wear; I find dresses are not practical for crawling under people's desks.

I'm an Asian. Know a lot of 0 (-2) types because the whole population in China/Japan looks anorexic by US standards. When I traveled as a guy to Taiwan (30" waist), I had problems finding any pants to fit me (I was too big...) and had to get the largest ones they offered. Personally I prefer athletic women - size 0 or 8 doesn't matter to me, but fitness level does. Size 16 probably won't work, unless you're a shotputter/rugby player. If you can hike Yosemite for 12 hrs/day, that's more fun...

My question is: perfect for what? The female body isn't a single-purpose tool. Some women have bodies born and sculpted to look great in nekkid pictures, some are athletic, some are flexible, some are soft, and so on. I can think of scenarios in which each of the three would be perfect, and situations where none of them would be. I'm not trying to be sloppily "everyone is beautiful" here... it's just that "perfect" is way too broad a term to be used without context.

Mona: They had a free toy exhibit in Chicago when I was last there, and I was doing this stuff with the jenga-style games, trying to see how big an overhang I could get with the blocks, and what funky geometric shapes I could get. This is old, but it seems like a pretty good list of guidelines. It's a little funny that "TV in the bedroom" gets its own special mention, but I guess it can be more serious than I would think (I tend to not watch any TV on my own for long stretches of time, but a TV in the bedroom doesn't bend me out of shape. TV in the kids' bedrooms might be a different matter, though. I don't really approve of that. PCs, maybe, but not plain TV.)

Kamilah - being a Christian, I'm glad my wife and I discussed our beliefs before marriage. I'd encourage folks to do that regardless of their particular religious beliefs to avoid surprises later in marriage. Likewise about sex. Reflecting on our almost 13 year history, I think if we'd discussed some of these things before we got married in a very serious and formal manner it would have just made us both miserable and maybe even cast doubt on us getting married. I suppose we're lucky that things worked out and we're as compatible as we are, but we don't really have the same priorities/goals for a lot of the things on that list. Maybe the ones that we DO jive on are the most important (at least for our situation).
