I have the VU meter t-shirt. It's pretty cool! OK, and Geeky too! Definitely an attention getter in a dark club or concert. Wore it to the 'X' show at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz CA last Friday. The band thought it was cool! Got a "Cool Shirt" comment from Billy Zoom from the stage while he was playing.

Sad to hear about this... I hope AOL helps the bloggers have a soft landing. Anyone at Weblogs, Inc. who needs work please ping me at jason at mahalo.com and we'll see what we can do.

It's not journalism. But it sure is easy, huh? pwnd.
- Chris Baskind
I always hated that eric spellman thats why i dont watch KTLA
- erick
Wow. What was the point of that? Someone should submit that clip along with a reply comment when that station files for it's FCC license renewal. Two words: Public. Interest.
- Andrew Feinberg
Todays news is simply entertainment. A true journalist could have created an interesting story exploring the motivations of the iPhone buyers.
- Jim McCusker
AHAHAH. I that's why I hate broadcast journalists.
- David Cohn
Looking for hard hitting journalism from the man-on-the-street section of a local news show, eh? Hey, when the weather man shows the local pound puppy up for adoption that day they better not throw it any softball questions, either. They need to get to the truth with that beast!
- Jim Stanger
http://www.joedawsons.com/feeds... I have a lot of images of my family adventures which get uploaded so I wouldn't subscribe if you don't want that fed into GReader!
- Joe Dawson
This is my going to bed mark so I know where to start adding feeds in the morning. keep em coming, and anyone reading this, feel free to add as many people as you like
- Duncan Riley
I liked it, but how do you ask for help in an open forum without giving away your idea?
- Peter Ghosh
It's strange to inform thousands of people that you've sent something to a few people. Hiding now.

@droffset: Like he's selling something or something. It's an old well known marketing rule: Money is in the list.

@peter Ghosh: I am going to sound v.condescending, which I really don't mean to, but I would suggest ideas are the easy bit, the implementation is where you make the money.

Even though you're posting to a small group of readers, it does seem your posts get on blogs anyway. A vicious circle perhaps?
- Marques Stewart
Going from blog to email is stupid.
- David Risley
I don't think it's very stupid. Because of the hubub surrounding everything that's happened, he's got who knows how many people posting his e-mail on their blogs. Instead of it going to one blogs..it's hitting 10 (not the real number). Not to mention a lot of high traffic blogs are talking about it. Everyone else is doing the work. He just wrote an e-mail.
- Candace
Jason is a smart guy, I don't think he'd dump his blog and move to an email list if he didn't see a benefit in it.
- Brandon
@JasonCalacanis - this story transcends the value to start-ups and is a testament to the power of social networks. You've attracted ideas, comments and even criticisms from all sorts here. The fact is, you're getting raw, unfiltered feedback on everything you post. You can't buy that kind of candor. I think your Jason Nation is a phenomenal idea. It's creative, innovative and most importantly - outside of all current conventional thinking. Keep challenging convention
- Scott Schang
Cunning plan. Get everyone else to carry your blog posts for you! You send the post via email. Everyone on the list races to be the first to post the semi private messae and off the cycle of marketing! great spamming feature!

Well, since we can't read his email, we can guess the 3 simple ideas for generating startup feedback: (1) Ask for it. (2) Give away an iPhone to everyone who gives feedback. (3) Send users an email...
- Hutch Carpenter
BTW Jason did you see that you got mentioned as having 27,000 Twitter Followers in the most recent issue of Wired?
