Just for kicks, this week I fired up the oldest URL (2002) I still hold as a casual tumblelog. I'm looking to follow some FriendFeeders. Represent!
- Chris Baskind
I just signed up, will work on transferring my shares from enjoysthin.gs over. http://jcunwired.tumblr.com - nothing up yet, but feel free to follow.

http://simon-wicks.tumblr.com/ Only just set it back up yesterday, went unused and forgotten about for a while just dragging stuff in and linked it in to FF yesterday.
- Simon Wicks
got one but not worth a mention. Anyway, surprised that so many friendfeeders have both regular blogs, high activity on FF and tumblr blogs..... either you guys have crazy interesting lives, or you need to get one ;-)
- Peter Efland
agreed clarke, peter's right on - my most active "services" are flickr and friendfeed, everything else is mostly interacted w/ briefly or via automation (which is what my tumblr is)...
- mike "glemak" dunn
Will - you should add the media-rss plugin (assuming you're on WP) so your images are loaded into FriendFeed and other RSS feeds properly. This is an awesome picture.
- Justin Korn
Thanks for the tip, Justin! I'm currently running my blog through WordPress.com (not self-hosted), so I can't install any plugins currently, but I'm thinking about making the switch to self-hosted. Any suggestions for the jump?

Dirty Martini is a blissful union of three of the Pacific Northwest’s finest singer songwriters Lara Michell, Stephanie Schneiderman, and McKinley. They each had successful solo careers (one toured with David Crosby as his opening act, one won a spot on the Lillith Fair tour, and one was in Carmina Pirhana, a band that composed music for the Oregon Ballet) when they decided to do a Portland Valentine’s Day show together. It was a songwriter in the round format and they each played their brutal, love will kick you in the ass and leave you bleeding songs.

I halfway expected this to be a list of stunningly beautiful FriendFeeders. But I wasn't disappointed. :-)
- Robert Scoble
@Robert, funny...I didn't even think of that angle. But now that you mentioned it, I'm sure it's coming soon.
- Mark Krynsky
Mark, thanks for this lovely list, i will check the ones i don't follow yet. BTW, great use of FriendFeed embedded widgets!
- Majento
Damn, man! I'm honored! thanks much for the shout out....I'm glad to know there's a few others out there that share my sick sense of humor and think some of the stuff I post is cool...FF kicks serious butt and there are lots of quality folks on there that I like interacting with....love ya all!

Sometimes I send messages I shouldn't send. Like the time I told that girl I had a crush on her over text message. Or the time I sent that late night email to my ex-girlfriend that we should get back together. Gmail can't always prevent you from sending messages you might later regret, but today we're launching a new Labs feature I wrote called Mail Goggles which may help. When you enable Mail Goggles, it will check that you're really sure you want to send that late night Friday email. And what better way to check than by making you solve a few simple math problems after you click send to verify you're in the right state of mind?

"There is no real "secret" to Explore. That's the big secret. Ever come across a photo with dozens if not hundreds of comments, and they all have these little blinky "Best of Sparkly Award" graphics in them? "Diamond in the Rough!". "Flaming Sword of Awesome!!" etc etc. Well the reason for that is many people are members of Flickr groups that enforce strict "commenting" rules. To post to the group, you have to first comment on some other photos in the group, or favorite them, or give them award blinkies. It's an artificial "game" of false attention, almost all geared towards one thing: getting their photos on Explore."

The balls on the cigarette companies for putting ads like this out when they knew the products they were selling harmed the user. Beer companies know its bad for you but they never use babies to portray an image of the “best for your family”. Click read more for more examples of why smoking is good for you and your family.

"The latest version of Mozilla's popular open-source browser enjoyed one of the most successful launches in software history, with a record-setting 8.2 million downloads the first day it was available. With the ability to drastically expand the browser's functions using plug-in extensions and Greasemonkey scripts, many of Firefox 3's built-in features are overlooked. Here are eight handy things you can do with Firefox, ranging from tiny tweaks to hugely powerful capabilities, all with nary an extension to install."

"Nerdcore Rising" - a documentary about Nerdcore hip hop - stars a bunch of folks like MC Frontalot, Weird Al Yankovic, Prince Paul, and Brian Posehn. But, none are more influential, inimitable, or god-like to gaming nerds than Tycho & Gabe of the Penny Arcade. Therefore, it is with joyous heart and a gamer's carpal tunnel that we would like to announce, in catchy video format, that the West Coast Premiere of "Nerdcore Rising" will be at the Penny Arcade Expo on August 30, 2008, 4pm, at the Seattle Convention Center. Please be entertained with the same exact message by watching this video!

Stop In The Name of Love - Diana Ross and the Supremes. Needed it for a school function of some sort for my daughter the night before. Burned it to a CD for the school.

Never have. Not once. Yet my music collection is rather large.

can't believe you would opt for that over "where do you get love" -- mine apparently was the hives "walk idiot walk"

haven't purchased on itunes yet. but on amazon mp3 store it was a disc from Barenaked Ladies
- Jeremy Toeman
I can tell you the first cassette tape or CD I've purchased, but I can't tell you the first song or album purchased from iTunes. I think that speaks volumes actually. That's not to say I don't value the music more or less it just doesn't have the staying power in my memory. Sad because music used to have a heavier weighting in my memory when I purchased a tangible item. I'll have to look it up later.
- Jim Goldstein
Journey of the Sorceror by the Eagles - it may be the only one I've ever bought. Got it because it was the theme song to the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy radio show AND used in some form in every audio and video version of the story after that
- Mark Dykeman
My first iTunes purchase was Rod Stewart's "Ooh La La" on Oct 16, 2003.
- George Brickner
Awesome, I love Matthew Sweet. I have never bought a song off of iTunes because of the DRM thing. Amazon FTW!!!

The Sex Pistols "Never Mind The Bollocks" album :)
- Leslie Poston
Sublime "same in the end" have all the albums anyway. But this is a feel good perk me up track I wanted everywhere and couldn't be bothered to rip myself.

"If you use a DSLR, sooner or later you’re going to find yourself swapping lenses - that kit lens that came with the camera isn't going to do all the jobs all the time. That means, sooner or later, you’re going to find yourself facing a problem that photographers have faced since the advent of interchangeable lenses: dust. Dust is a huge problem: it’s next to impossible to prevent, hard to get rid of and it ruins the best of shots. Many recent DSLRs have self-cleaning sensors to try to minimise the problem, and some can have custom dust maps created so that dust spots are removed in-camera, but knowing how to use the heal tool to get rid of those conspicuous dark spots is a must."

As previously noted the best photo tip I ever received had to do with sharpness and up until the time in which I received this tip I had little understanding of how to consistently get sharp photos. I’ll never forget when I was a teenager I borrowed my mothers film SLR and ventured out into Yosemite valley while on a family vacation to photograph flowers, the landscape, etc. A couple weeks later when I got the film back almost all my photos were out of focus. Young and easily frustrated I cast photography to the wind for several years. These days digital cameras simplify not only your ability to see what you’re focusing on, but they also give you an immediate view of your photo enabling you to move on to your next photo or to try again. As great as these features are consistently getting sharp photos can still be a challenge.

A study revealed that an illegal drug psilocybin has long-term positive effects on an individual's well-being. Psilocybin is a hallucinogenic substance derived from certain types of mushrooms and is considered illegal, claimed to have a high potential for abuse in the United States. The study conducted at a Johns Hopkins University laboratory began in 2002 with the first results being published in 2006. During the experiment, 36 men and women who took the drug were monitored during an eight-hour laboratory visit and two months later. In the new study scientists followed up the volunteers a year after the experiment.

So you're thinking, "Hey, I want to be totally irresponsible with my computer and load it up with crapware!" Really, isn't everyone getting tired of having to be so stinking responsible on the Internet all the time? We certainly are. We're ready for system protection that isn't afraid of our reckless browsing, indiscriminate downloading, and general apathy towards good computer usage habits. ...Which is why we love Windows Steady State. It creates a cache file in which your operating system operates, meaning any harmful changes can be undone by simply emptying the cache. After downloading it's a snap to install - just a few obligatory clicks and the usual EULA mumbo-jubmo and you're set.

We do feel we ought to warn you though, when you click the "Fresh Sheet" button, watch out for the recording. You'll want to keep your volume turned down because it doesn't sound like it has anything to do with an innocent sheet of bubble wrap. You'll see what we mean.

Let me start by saying there is no right or wrong time to use either manual or auto focusing - both can produce great results in almost all circumstances - however there are a few times when you might find it easier to switch to manual focusing. The idea of this program is to reclaim resources when a task is finished (memory, handles, etc). It accomplishes this by monitoring for users to log off and verifying that unused resources are reclaimed. This approach is superior as it works for any known reason that profiles do not unload and also will keep working to address new unknown issues. Now when you go to shutdown, logoff or restart it will happen within seconds. Instead of minutes.

Inspired by open source means that we have adopted the best practices from open source development, and applied professional recruiting and management. The result is fast, iterative development with globally distributed teams. We are also inspired by Web 2.0. This means we release early and release often, with fast reaction times that aspire to be instant. It also means letting users add and manage content and ideas, since they are faster and smarter about it than we are. It means investing in a great product experience, rather than excess sales and marketing. It means making adoption free, fast, and fun.

I can't quite convey how sarcastic I am when I say "Brilliant Packaging". This is the shit we had to deal with when we ordered a replacement hard drive for my laptop from NewEgg.com. I just opened the worthless packaging and found my *dented* hard drive, ready to go. When we called the NewEgg.com customer service line to demand a replacement, they said they couldn't guarantee proper packaging on the next shipment. Needless to say, we took our business elsewhere and so should you. Screw NewEgg.
