All you have to do is take some photos – which you never delete from your camera – so when someone finds your camera at the bottom of the gorilla pit they are able to locate you and return the lost property to its rightful owner. http://www.andrewmcdonald.net.au/a-picto...
I like how everything is clear and readable except the email address.
- Alex Scrivener
LOL That's funny, but yeah...what's with the email address being so small?
- Admiral Anika
At any rate, I had a video I made with all my info on it. I accidentally took it off my chip, but I'm positive I copied it to my camera. Unfortunately, I don't know how to access my camera's memory and the cord has been lost. One of these days, I'll RTFM. =)
- Admiral Anika
I like how the facial expressions match the whiteboard :-)
- Rene Wirtz
lol that was awesome as hell. I'm definitely planning to do it.
- Bora Mesut PALAS
I'd just leave only one pic with my email
- Itachi
The other pics build empathy, encouraging a border-line thief to return the camera. Otherwise you may as well stick a label on the case and be done with it.
- Alex Scrivener
Does anyone else want to make out with this guy for being SO DAMN AWESOME? Srsly, total panty-dropper this one was.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
wow, this is very close to being the most popular thing I have ever posted to Friendfeed. Just goes to show, um, something. Always use pictures?
- Alex Scrivener
I'm the opposite. I tend to ignore posts with photos (unless the post itself is just a photo). Why? The image usually detracts from the text and people spend time talking about the picture and making it clear they didn't bother to read the text or link.
- Admiral Anika
=/ (not about the original post. I already expressed how much I love it)
- Kamilah Gill
Or you could just put an address sticker on the camera...
- Alix Whitmire
No, the pictures try to build an emotional connection with the finder. It helps convince a not-so-honest person to return the camera rather than just keep it. It won't stop a real thief, but it could tip the odds in his favor. A sticker can't do that.
- Alex Scrivener
There should be a place in your camera for email address, like cell phones have "Home" so when you lose it, someone can call you. Hmmmm.
- anna sauce
I wouldn't ever think to go through pics, but if I found a lost cam (or phone or whatever) with an address clearly visible on it, I'd pop it in the mail, or call/email someone, no problem. Same holds true for some lost and found places. They might call you if there's easy contact info, but I don't see them taking the time to flip through photos to figure out how. Maybe do both?
- Alix Whitmire
I was putting a README.txt file on my USB sticks with contact info if it got lost. This is way better! Now take this board with your contact info.... smile, no! put a sad face.... and you're done!
- Nenad Nikolic
This is now far and away the most popular thing I have ever posted. Even got a FFundercats Best of the Week!

(ah, che macchinetta plasticosa! Nulla in confronto a quella che abbiamo io e Rossella! ;)
- Sara Maternini

Bir an sesi titredi heyecanlandı garibim.

Beautiful! Fantastic costume! Did your wife, Johnny, make the costume? (For a moment I confused you with Josh) Sorry! ;) Is she going to be in a ballet?
- Melanie Reed
We got it at our local department store. We had out annual Xmas carols on the weekend and this is what she wore
- Johnny Worthington
That is so great about the Christmas carols! And you have some department store: haven't seen anything as nice for little girls here. :)
- Melanie Reed
She is so adorable... I'm back in my `I want a daughter, I must be a father` thoughts... :)
- meric| zalambOdOnt |kara
Always in my"'want to be mother" thoughts. This is just an encouragement. ;)

"Ex libris, meaning ‘from the library of’, or ‘from the books of’ is a Latin expression concerning the artform of bookplates - stamps or labels inside books that identify the owner. Ex libris bookplates range from the simple to the decorative and elaborate, the obscure or even bizarre and surreal."

"Courtney Love has lost legal control of her daughter with late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has awarded temporary guardianship of 17-year-old Frances Bean Cobain to Wendy O'Connor, her paternal grandmother, and Kimberly Dawn Cobain, her aunt. No reason was given for the decision. The judge's decision comes ahead of the release of Love's latest album, Nobody's Daughter, which is expected early next year. The ruling was filed on Friday but the court papers in the case only gained attention on Monday. A representative for Love, 45, declined immediate comment."

say what?..............who couldn't see that coming..
- VAL D. Zone
Oh, Courtney. I do hope ole Frances can piece some sort of life for herself despite her familial setbacks.
- Derrick
Does anyone ever stop and marvel over how much Frances Bean looks like her father?
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
I'll grant that I don't know either of them, but even if Courtney were Mom of the Year, the loss of a father at a very young age has to be tough.
- John E. Bredehoft
from fftogo
She should start a reality show with Eminem. Without having to listen to her album, I can tell you there might have been trouble with the title!
- elizabeth
I'm just surprised it didn't happen sooner.
- James Ferguson
Wow she looks just like Kurt in the face and eyes! Eeeew i hate Courtney.
- orionstarr
If there was a problem, how did she keep custody for 17 years, and it seems too much of a coincidence that she looses custody, what, 4 months before the kid turns 18 and custody no longer is an issue? Sounds politically motivated to me, or at least very suspect.
- echostreamer
as others have said, the surprising part is that it took so long.
- tiffany
The bean has always seemed like a pretty well adjusted kid in the face of obvious parental craziness. I don't like to assume what's happening in another person's home but I'd bet this is the right decision for her.
- Jason Toney
Well, don't forget, she is the child of a genius. That probably helped her out along the way. He had the ability to see things for what they really were (as you can hear in his songs.) I'm guessing he passed some of that on to her.
- echostreamer
Echostreamer - from what I can recall, there have been custody battles with the grandparents for many years.

"With colleges and universities cutting back because of the recession, the job outlook for graduate students in language and literature is bleaker than ever before. According to the Modern Language Association’s forecast of job listings, released Thursday, faculty positions will decline 37 percent, the biggest drop since the group began tracking its job listings 35 years ago. The projection, based on a comparison between the number of jobs listed in October 2008 and October 2009, follows a 26 percent drop the previous year. “Students thinking of going to graduate school in English should understand that right now their chance of landing a job that provides them a livable wage is 50-60 percent,” said Rosemary Feal, executive director of the M.L.A., the world’s largest association of scholars and professors of language and literature. “What I often hear from grad students is, ‘I had no clue it was this bad.’ They need to go into it with their eyes wide open.” While the association does not having listings for every academic position available, its list does track the overall faculty job market."
- RAPatton
"For languages other than English, the jobs are concentrated in Spanish (35.5 percent), French (16 percent), Chinese (9.5 percent), German (4 percent), Arabic (3 percent) and Italian (2 percent)."

Post-Modernist "cultural studies" crap hasn't done humanities educations any favors.
- Christopher A Carr
Christopher, why do you think that cultural studies has anything to do with the shortage of humanities faculty positions?
- s t e v e
a friend of mine (from the romance/publishing side of my life), who already has a faculty position, posted yesterday on twitter that another job she had applied for had 400 applicants and they only invited 4 to interview, and that she was not one of them. this is a woman who has helped start an academic society, has had a few papers published, has received a study grant in her field of interest, and more.
