* The HTC Hero will be the first HTC device to launch with HTC Sense, the new UI that HTC is actively showing off. It's the widget-based, sleek and sexy UI that we once knew as 'Rosie'. It pretty much rocks. * You'll be glad to hear that multi-touch will be supported on the HTC Hero (not sure how wide support will be) * The white version of the HTC Hero will sport an industry-first Teflon coating to keep it clean and spotless. The finish is supposed to be 'soft to touch' and will resist dirt, stains, and even fingerprints. Though white obviously gets dirty easier than black, why couldn't they just offer the Teflon option to black too? * Flash Support will launch with the HTC Hero. Double-tap to watch full screen. Sweet! * 3.5 mm headphone jack * System-wide search and Social Networking Tools figure in heavily on this device

My car's interior has a Teflon coating (as does much of my cookware ;). I'm pretty sure this phone will end up being slippery while the coating is still on there, and look horrible as the coating begins to peel off after a few weeks in your pocket. Otherwise, it sounds nice.

I have to admit this makes Android look very impressive against the competition for sure. HTC is doing a great job as usual with their top notch hardware.

HTC Hero, will be the first Android based device to have Flash, iPhone you can continue sleeping | Startup Meme - Technology Startup and Latest Tech News - http://startupmeme.com/htc-her...
yup adobe offered flash lite to apple and they said no we want the full version but adobe said it wont work on there hardware. now that they have full version ready apple dont want to know and adobe wont offer it again
- Rollz Chamberlain
I don't think that's correct, Rollz. Apple is not providing all the access Adobe requires. Of course Adobe wants Flash on the iPhone.

indeed, just installed. It might replace my podcast client for me as well
- Roni Segoly
Been using this client for about a week now and am quite taken with it. I'd LOVE for a later version to add a "post to twitter/friendfeed" option to make sharing articles easier!
- Kris Joseph
I quit using it for podcasts as I prefer the client I have, it has a player which 'remembers' at which point I stopped listening to the audio file and I can resume from that point.
- Roni Segoly
I just posted video of my new FriendFeed client for Windows Mobile at http://codingsmackdown.tv/content... check it out and let me know what you think.
It's cool, functions well. First Friendfeed client Ive found. There's a surprising lack of support for it. Two suggestions: 1. Pretty up the interface. 2. Make it a stream you can scroll through with all the pictures and links on the posts like the web experience instead of showing one at a time.
- Nathan Mylott
Nathan: Thanks for the suggestions. I am working on an entire new UI for the application. Do you feel that shoving all of the posts, images and comments on the single screen would be better than breaking them out like I have? I've always thought that was too much information on a single screen, but I've noticed the Facebook client for WinMo does something similar. maybe what I can do is...

- Jim Lavin
I would like that much better Jim. After using it for a couple days I have realized that what you have right now is too much work for viewing just one post.
- David Cook
I also lack the ability to see all messages like in FF or RSS feed and choose which one to open
- Roni Segoly
I tried it. Not as feature rich as PockeTwit but crazy fast. Even faster than TinyTwitter. I'm going to keep it on my phone in case of emergencies.
- Sweyn
Which one would you recommend, I'm yet to find a really good one.
- Amit Morson
I would say PockeTwit if you want all the features like ping.fm integration, view conversations, and such. Twikini if you just want something fast. I would say try both and make your own decision.
- Sweyn
Twikini isn't free anymore. I use PockeTwit. It's excellent and has more features than Twitter itself. You really don't need to pay for a Twitter app, that's just stupid. PockeTwit is more than you need. I hear Tiny Twitter is good too.
- Nathan Mylott
I have pocketwit and I swear by it. Must have!

SPB Mobile Shell 3 is around ;) Nice shell + Facebook support (for now you can only update your contacts' display images, but it's good to be able to sync with Facebook)
i'm tesing it since 3 days ago. I get big bug with my HTC Touch Diamond. Otherwise that work perfectly. I luv the carrousel to show the Contacts.

Many Windows Mobile 6.5 using friend said that the program is too slow. Windows Mobile 6 or 6.1 can provide best performance for the program.
- Hussein EROL
the facebook support is cool, but it needs a bit more work. i've got close to 800 friends. so trying to link a friend to their facebook contact is not an easy task without a search feature.

I've used many different interfaces on my phone and this is the only one I never got sick of. Of all the ones I tried, I always liked them at first but always ended up going back to Touch Flo after a week or two. With this, it's all I use and I haven't looked back. It's ironic though, skinning my Touch Flo would've been nice but I didn't discover that till right before I made the switch to SPB 3.
- Nathan Mylott
I've had it for about a month and LOVE it.
- David Cook
yrgo is the most customizable user interface for Windows Mobile. It contains up to 64 independent desktops that can be extremelly easily rearranged using drag’n'drop technique. - http://www.2daysoft.com/yrgo...
I haven't used this but SPB Mobile Shell is shockingly customizable. You can put icons for anything anywhere and arrange them any way you want.
- Nathan Mylott
Screens full of icons just do not interest me. I like for my UI to be more imaginative.
- MiniMage (FakeLifePerson)
Oh I don't either. So many iPhone snobs talk about how great the iPhone interface is but I think it's completely boring and unimagintive. Just a board of pictures tacked to it? Cmon, a 1st grader could come up with that. Only Apple could get away with that lack of ingenuity and be called a genius for it.
- Nathan Mylott
Though I did like Winterface. I switched back and forth between it and Touch Flo 3D Fuzeberry until I got SPB Mobile Shell 3 and now that's all I use and I never get sick of it.

FriendFeed for WinMo Alpha Release 2 Ready New in this release: 1. Comments are now active. 2. You can post comments to an entry and it will show up at the end of the comment list. 3. You can refresh an entry while on the comments screen so you can keep up with discussions in real-time. 4. Media is now active. Still needs more work to correctly...
Works fine for me, HTC TOUCH HD. Thanks
- Roni Segoly
Roni: You have to be kidding me! You mean this version finally started working for you? I expected you to tell me this version failed like all the rest. I'm glad to hear it works!
- Jim Lavin
:) But the response time is slow when I browse between the messages, sometimes the counter will update but I wait for the messages to refresh. I changed response time to 30s and it is better but sometime will get stuck for time till it refreshes. Maybe its my connection but I think I have good reception
- Roni Segoly
I could see it being slow between downloading feeds, but it shouldn't be slow between messages. They are all loaded into RAM and everything is being handled in the background. Has anyone else noticed a slow response when navigating between messages?
- Jim Lavin
Roni: Is it slow when you switch between feeds? I could see that being an issue with a lot of data in the feed. I think that has to be with the XmlSerializer I am using to parse the data from the FriendFeed API. I'll see if there might be a faster way to parse the data.
- Jim Lavin
Roni: I got similar results with some large feeds. On average my normal feeds in under 10 seconds, but twit-conversations took about 80 seconds due to the fact that several posts had 1000+ comments. I know this has to do with the XMlSerializer. I'll see if I can get it fixed in the next release.
- Jim Lavin
Jim I did not try all my friendfeed groups (this is what you call feeds?), it is not too slow when I retrieve a feed, only when I try to browse through the messages some will be immediate and some will take much more than 10 seconds, and the counter will be updated even before the message arrive so it confuses. But I want to clarify something, you change feeds on top, you browse within...

Google mobile app. How do I download it? I just hard reset my mobile and download all from scratch. I can't find the google mobile app cab file. From mobile there is no link to it and from elsewhere it always leads me to the download page where I need to enter tel number for download SMS (but I am not in US so +1 will not work for me),
I have smartphone tracker on mine http://smartphonetracker.blogspot.com/ , sits in the background quietly, can send co-ords via sms/email, silent sms location trigger (if your phone gets stolen, send a text message and it'll mail/sms where it is) sends out a google maps link too with the co-ords :) also does things like send out message when sim card is replaced, well worth the install
- Stuart Evans
Stuart, it works like a charm, including camera capture, many thanks

Radio365 offers a few random free internet radio stations without buying. I'm pretty sure the Pandora app was free. FF client is in beta (search inside FriendFeed for Jim Lavin).

The GSPlayer with PLS file works perfectly, one issue though I could not find way to download PLS files from Shoutcast
- Roni Segoly
Is the problem getting it to actually be saved to the device? When I've had trouble with PIE opening a file instead of saving it, I've tried with a different browser, like Opera. It's been a while since I used Shoutcast (the last time being somewhere around the launch of iPhone 2.0, just so I could inform everyone that we already had radio), so I am not up-to-speed on things.
- MiniMage (FakeLifePerson)
I tried with my PC and mobile on Internet explorer and Opera I can't find option to save PLS file

"Microsoft has stated that there will be no update for any current hardware to add Pocket Internet Explorer 6. Regarding making IE Mobile available as a separate download or update, the rich media experiences that IE Mobile 6 enables require more powerful, advanced devices. That is why it will not be available as an upgrade or direct download for current phones, but rather will be made available on new phones."

And my HTC Mogul will have to limp along with its memory deficiency until Sprint has something that has PIE6. I also have my iPhone to amuse me.
- MiniMage (FakeLifePerson)
I'm using Iris Browser, and got the benefit of many Webkit-HTML5 based webapps for iPodTouch / Android. Currently, PIE is enough.
- ozero
I can't remember if I've tried Iris or not. I tried lots of them. There's always something missing. I hate the browsers that make me go to a different page to type text, for example. The Java ones do that.

It can be resolved somehow by adding Gtalk client to Windows mobile and have all messages set to come via Gtalk. But its not a solution.
- Roni Segoly
I would love to see it when it comes out. I also couldn't find a good client for Twitter.
