"Shouldn't we all be learning to speak Chinese? After all China is where the majority of products American workers buy are made. If we learn to speak and read Chinese then we'll at least be able to safely use our Walmart purchases." - JP Moore
In case you can't tell... people who insist that America should be an English-only country annoy me. - JP Moore
"I have to wonder how many bookies will be lurking near their clients mailboxes as the checks arrive.... How many drug dealers and hookers will be offering special "stimulus packages" of their own as the checks land in the wallets of America?" - JP Moore
"These methods aren't just advocated in Washington state. Schools in New York state use these methods as well. I am convinced that "Everyday Math" is the reason our 9th grader doesn't know his times-tables and still can't multiply without a calculator to save his life. Despite this he managed to get decent grades in math and made the honor role this year. Go figure." - JP Moore
"Adolf Hitler certainly had a major influence on the world of 1938. Albeit a thoroughly despicable influence. One would hope that Time would pick people for their positive influence on our world. Then or now." - JP Moore
"It's obvious from this list that Time is focused on it's American readers. I am sorry, but Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and John McCain haven't DONE ANYTHING yet that would qualify them to be on a list of the World's Most Influential People. Let's get past the d*mn election first then see which of these three truly deserves to be on such a list." - JP Moore
Mainstream. Hmm. For my age 40-45 college classmates. 20-25% are on LinkedIn. 2-3% are on Facebook (only early adopters - profs, techies, and megasocial friends). <1% on Twitter (none active). FriendFeed is 0%. - Mitchell Tsai
For me: To date, less than 5% of the people I follow are "real life" friends. The percentage is higher of course for people who follow me. On FriendFeed, only one person who follows me, and I follow her as well is a personal friend. I really haven't used SocialThing to it's potential. I use RSS when I find it useful, but know for a fact that my wife, son and much of my family haven't a clue what it's used for. Speaking of family: my wife lurks on my Twitter profile, but isn't likely to use Twitter. - JP Moore
I agree with this statement: "You don’t need statistics to tell you that "our world" of social media tools like Twitter, Friendfeed, and RSS has not reached mainstream." - Mike Reynolds
Of my ~1,200 Yahoo! Mail contacts (too lazy to restore my pre-2004 contact list from a PC crash, but including 230 LinkedIn contacts), 93 are on Facebook, 3 are on FriendFeed. - Mitchell Tsai
