This is a major breakthrough for Android. In most of the world Nokia is number one by far. Symbian seems to suffer from this big time. Ladies and Gentlemen, now it's getting interesting.

This still seems completely in the realm of rumour at the moment, but I really hope it's true. It would be good for both the Android platfom and Nokia. Getting very interesting indeed.
- Andrew Perry
Nokia is already warm to Linux side, but Android? If it's true, then a huuuuuge step is awaiting for Android
- Ozkan Altuner
Yes, it's not 100% confirmed yet. I'm a bit skeptic, because Nokia is not known to correct mistakes or set another course, once they decided one. But on the other side, they just see floating their complete smartphone series down the river to Android and others.

Using a worldwide combination of diverse telescopes, astronomers have discovered that a giant galaxy's bursts of very high energy gamma rays are coming from a region very close to the supermassive black hole at its core.

If you go outside tonight or tomorrow night and locate the Moon, you will be looking toward a rather remarkable patch of the sky. You will be looking towards the center of our galaxy! On today's podcast we will use the Moon as a landmark to explore the structure of our home in the Universe, the Milky Way. Join us for a journey from the Earth, through the Milky Way's spiral arms and right to the supermassive black hole that sits at the heart of our galaxy. Lowell Observatory http://www.lowell.edu/users... Christopher Crockett is a University of California, Los Angeles graduate student currently working as a predoctoral fellow at Lowell Observatory. His research involves searching for planets and brown dwarfs around very young stars (“only” a few million years old). It is hoped that the results from this research will help constrain models of planet formation and lead to a better understanding of where, when, and how often planets form. Chris is also passionate about astronomy...

Daniel Raffaele talks about exoplanets: the discoveries so far, the potential for new discoveries, and what it is that we are actually looking for. New technologies, such as Infra-Red, allow us to see much smaller planets orbiting closer to their stars, so what does this mean for us on Earth? Raffaele was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. He has been a backyard astronomer for many years and by the time this goes to air he will be studying his Masters of Science in Astronomy through Swinburne University of Technology. His interest is the Solar System, particularly planetary science, dwarf planets and exoplanets. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SPONSOR: This episode of 365 Days of Astronomy is sponsored by "Exoplanetology.com - The Art & Science of New Worlds".

"CoPilot have today officially launched the first full turn-by-turn satellite navigation app for the Android platform." - Which is not correct. AndNav2 and Nav4All are both (free) turn-by-turn nav apps.

AndNav2 was my favorite, is my favorite and stays my favorite. Even if it is a bit unstable from time to time.

AndNav was horrible in the US. Nav4All is pretty Kmart as far as UI's go, but really accurate. The pay ones looked really really nice, but $100/year? No thanks. I'd have been cool with $100 once, or $1/month.
- Matthew DeVries
Yeesh, $35..... I'll have to think about that one.
- Matthew DeVries
100MB maps, these better be going to the SD-Card
- Matthew DeVries
Immediate cons - MONSTEROUS 15MB, it does save the maps though to SD card. To get the whole US is 1GB, I just have the 2 states I live on the border of. It does not pull addresses from your address book, so you have to hand enter them, which means writing them down after looking them in the address book. EDIT: There is supposed to be PC app CoPilot Central 2.0 that comes with the Android Version. It's not on the SD card and I can't find anywhere on the company website to download it.
- Matthew DeVries
It runs very nicely.....but that is a big chunk of RAM it's sucking......*sigh* I ahve like 18 hours to decide if I'm keeping it.
- Matthew DeVries
I have Telenav and paying $9.99/month for it...i might drop that and switch. haven't heard of Nav4All, and at last I know AndNav2 doesn't have turn-by-turn voice
- Mike VanLare (slayerboy)
Mike, AndNav2 do have turn-by-turn voice. You mean the previous version AndNav.
- Ryo
Ryo, wow...they must have stealth updated because I've been waiting for AndNav to come out with turn by turn voice for the US for a while now *grabs his G1 frantically*
- Mike VanLare (slayerboy)
cool I got AndNav2 from the website...had to uninstall a lot of apps to clear up memory, which I needed to do anyways. If this doesn't work then I'll try CoPilot...i'm dropping TeleNav
- Mike VanLare (slayerboy)
I saw the picture of the $1000+ computer purchased with donations, but the US server is never up.

via AndFeed
AndNav2 left a lot to be desired IMHO. I ditched TeleNav and put CoPilot on...my only concern is the maps show they are 10 day evaluation.....and it looks like you have to have their CoPilot Central software installed to buy, download, and transfer maps. Running Linux, I see this as a problem. Also, there is no listing of prices of map licenses anywhere that I can find. This is troubleing. I love the UI of CoPilot, and from brief testing, it kicks the snot out of TeleNav.
- Mike VanLare (slayerboy)
Looks like they keep the maps as a 10 day eval while they verify Google payment....That couldn't be anymore confusing to the average person. They could lose a lot of customers if they don't fix that.
- Mike VanLare (slayerboy)
Also..."CoPilot Central 2.0 is currently only available for Windows XP/Vista. You do not need CoPilot Central to use CoPilot Live navigation on your phone – it is simply a utility to help customers easily purchase and manage additional content (map upgrades, POIs). If you cannot run CoPilot Central 2.0 but would like to buy a map upgrade for CoPilot for Android then please email support@alk.eu.com for details."
- Mike VanLare (slayerboy)
Yeah, but WHERE do I find Central 2.0 to download it?
- Matthew DeVries
so I think I might uninstall CoPilot. I'm not impressed. honestly? Wouldn't it be easier just to hand whoever is in the car with me my phone and have them read what Google maps says to do? LOL
- Mike VanLare (slayerboy)
I found with Copilot that it was missing a lot of streets, and the voice prompts were either too early or too late. AndNav2 it is!
- Mike VanLare (slayerboy)

If you've got something like the Canon T1i, Nikon D300, or Nikon D90 then you can probably afford to crank the ISO up to 800 or 1600 and still get very clean and beautiful shots. In which case, you can hand-hold the camera and look through the viewfinder to compose your shots.
