Some good research why fathers should be involved in their child's education.". . . He concluded that the involvement of fathers is related to the preparedness of children for school. He explained that when fathers participate in the literacy activities with their children they break the barrier that is often seen when parents cannot give attention towards studies of their children at their homes due to low literacy and no help. When fathers become involved with their children’s education, they teach their children about the achievement with literacy, value of schooling and power of knowledge (also see Karther, 2002).

This looks really good. My daughter joined Dizzywood a while back but she soon got bored with it, however this looks more fun and educational. Will check out the books on amazon.

Yesterday I earned $160!!, which to some is not that big, but to me its huge!;), it just goes to show that if you keep trying, keep learning, then it can happen just like it did for me!, so a big huge thanks to all at 30DC!!.
I am guessing you have put in a lot of effort to get that far.... I would imagine hundreds of posts, and tens of pages, and articles. Not easy, but very worth it! Well done
- Tim Brennan
Nice work Elliot! Make sure you frame that first $100 note and put it up in your "office". Will inspire you all the way to your first million :-)
- Ritesh Lal
Awesome job, I'm on Day 30 and (sadly) sitting at a big zero. But, I'm not deterred, only more motivated to try harder! =)
- David Rogers
Has anyone the slightest clue why the amazon widget disappears from my webpage every time I try to edit then save the page. This happens both in wp-admin and in the WPD interface. I've lost so much time over this it's unbelievable. I've tried it in different browsers too. - http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1065...
It disappears every time I go into html too - in wp-admin, I paste in the html, click on Save, and it's there in the Visual, but as soon as I do anything else - eg go back into html, then it's gone. In WPD I try pasting in the html then click on Update, and it's gone immediately.
- Isha (Marysia)
sorry, i can't help on this one as to the reason's why but the same thing happens to me and also when i embed videos from youtube. I have emailed my host but not had a good explanation, they think it maybe the WP interface so i just add my videos etc when i have finished my posts.
- Wayne Brewin
The problem is that I inevitably need to edit my posts at some point. But oh Wayne, I'm so pleased to meet you. I'll let you know if I find out anything, & please let me know if you do.
- Isha (Marysia)
Wayne - we've found the answer: wordpress does not allow iframes.
- Isha (Marysia)
Oh, makes it somewhat difficult then, better make sure i keep a record of the videos etc i post so i can easily add them again if i have to edit the pages. Any techie people know of a way around this?
- Wayne Brewin
It has happened to me too. I don't know why, but sometimes wordpress replaces the <object> tag (some HTML saavy required here ;) ) with an empty one. It happens to me when I center a youtube video in a post. The only way of avoiding this in my experience, is to edit the post in the (pseudo) HTML view instead of the regular one :(
- Jorge Blanco
If you want to include those Amazon listing things with the iframes, then a way you can do it is use this site: http://bit.ly/9GRi I use it for squidoo, which also doesn't accept iframes. But I don't really know about the effects of using it too much because I was too lazy to read the instructions. It's not exactly the same though, but similar looking
- Art Y.
But one of the disadvantages of this is that when Amazon changes the price for that product, this coding doesn't enable the price to keep updated. I'm not sure whether they get any amount of your money from your Amazon sales, so make sure you read the info about it first :) I just blindly jumped in and used it...
- Art Y.
I think perhaps Jorge's method is safer Art (to keep the price updated). What I've been doing is repasting in the html for the iframe after every time that I've had to edit in visual mode (which is like always)...
- Isha (Marysia)
Oic. I can try that then too. Thanks. I didn't really know what that meant but I kind of get it now :)
- Art Y.
The tool that Art Y posted (http://bit.ly/9GRi) will keep the price updated automatically. If you look closely, you'll see that it is, in fact, an image and this image will always display the correct price. See http://www.squidoo.com/amazon-... for further information.

From the page: "So the figures tell us that, on average, a Guinness Premiership coach can expect to stay in his job for around 20 months. It's a pretty brutal statistic, but I wouldn't say it surprises me: rugby coaching has had an increasingly unstable feel to it for a while now. "

The best 6 Nations Rugby Videos from Youtube all on one site, this years videos are added as they go live and you can view videos right back to the 2004 6 Nations Rugby Championship.

Theirs is the last match of the championship on Saturday 21st March at 5.30pm and it is looking to be a real showdown." It would be cool if we could use Twitter for tracking marketing trends graphically like this: http://www.nytimes.com/interac... It would be so useful... I think... Can we actually do something like this ourself?
Thanks! Hmm... but then, what makes Tweetscan different from the Twitter Search engine? Other than that I can get email alerts...
- Art Y.
those email alerts are going to save you a bucketload of time when you want to know who is talking about your niche. Manually searching for your niche conversations is wasting time you could be using doing more profitable tasks. Leverage in this industry is key, use every opportunity to milk the most out of every second
- Allison
Allison, there are so many ways you can get those conversations. Eg pulling the feeds for your twitter search results into a private room, same with the Google Alerts for your keywords. And spy is abso brilliant. And you can also include any words that are semantically related to your keywords. Did you see the thread on "spy"? http://friendfeed.com/e...
- Isha (Marysia)
Hmm... Yes. And you can just subscribe your keywords from Twitter search into Google Reader too with the RSS feed...
- Art Y.
This is a bit scary if you do a search on yourself (they know so much about you) but great for back ground information/research on someone you may be interviewing. What do you think?

- Isha (Marysia)
Wonderful. Very good news. Is this the clothing niche which you made the sale? How long did it take to be #3 & #5?
- Buff Toast
Yes it is BuffToast. I only realised why I wasn't ranking well within the last couple of weeks (see the forum thread which you contributed to http://short.to/kfj I'm Isha in the thread) It took 2 blog posts to put it right. & there I was for months wondering why things weren't happening for me. Judging by my Google Analytics people were finding me via google search on my keyword within a week of the 2nd blog post on my keyword. But for months before that I'd created other posts & socially bookmarked them.
- Isha (Marysia)
It's getting embarrassing. In phrase match I now see that I also have a blog post at #4, my squidoo lens at #6, my Digg for my squidoo at #8, my weebly at #11, propellor page to a now defunct blogpost link at #12, dignova for my latest blog post at #14, and 2 more of mine on the 3rd page. I'm nearly crying in happiness!!
- Isha (Marysia)
In broad match, in addition to the #5, there are 2 of mine on page 2 and 2 on page 3. When I use "All countries an territories" in Market Sam, I'm at #4 and #5 for broad match :D
- Isha (Marysia)
How much better can it get - Market Sam has me at #2 and #3 for broad match for google UK (I have a .co.uk domain as that's where most of the searches are).
- Isha (Marysia)
Wow getting better and better. Glad to hear the progress.
- Buff Toast
Hi Anne, I think you mean a "What you see is what you get" otherwise known as a "WYSIWYG" editor. The one I suggest is at nvu -> http://www.nvu.com/ it does a lot more than you need (ftp, etc) but you will be able to use it more as your experience grows.
- Wayne Brewin
It's a decent program but still not that simple for someone with no knowledge...bit of a learning curve.
- Michael Roberts
true, but learning to build websites is not easy though, however I have just done a search on youtube and there are many "how to" videos for NVU. Have not watched any of them but it may be a good place to start :-)
- Wayne Brewin
I prefer Kompozer - which is built out of Nvu (basically has fewer glitches, I find)
- Lisa
Hi Anne Just wanted to say if you really want simple try http://www.81x.com I have set up pages there over the past six years or so and they still host my home page http://www.81x.com/garydot... one draw back is that it sems to only work with the Internet Explorer Browser...:o) Gary
- Gary Gray
We used Nvu for some time with no problems. Now use Web Pagemaker which works like Illustrator so if you can use Illustrator this would be a simpler way for you to go :-)
- Kim Baillie
WordPressDirect is the way to go,if you have just started the #30DC you will get to the building a website there at WPD. It is brilliant
- JayP

If you want a place to place your things and just get some ideas - you can get a free Jimdo page to play with. http://sherylloch.jimdo.com/ - then you can check your HTML, youtube vids, banners....It is very basic and limited but, it might be useful to practice. For Editors we have Page Breeze, Nvu, and Alley Code (I am not fond of Alley Code).
- Sheryl Loch
Hey thanks everyone, very much appreciated. JayP I do have 2 WPD sites but need a non blog for this but do agree they are so easy to use
- Anne Bain
Can any one tell me do i want the rss feed or the atom feed for my twitter to use in Google reader? does any one have more info on that????? and FF would it be the same way??
imo.....doesn't need to be either/or choice. subscribe to both. build your Google Reader subscription with RSS feeds, target keyword terms and don't forget Google Alerts which will deliver to your Gmail in-box blog posts, articles, podcasts, videos, and other digital media....Keep an eye on filering out "noise". you only do this by doing, tho......
- Gregg
Thanks Gregg, for that info much need help here thanks for the reply, this we help lotsss!!!
- Thomas Loughran
Gregg, can I add Google Alerts to my Google Reader?? instead of putting in my Gmail
- Thomas Loughran
It doesn't really matter whether you use RSS or Atom - they are two technically different ways of sharing the content, but broadly the same to the end user.
- Trevor Roberts
yes you can add google alerts to your google reader. Go to the alerts, click on edit and then choose to read the google reader and save. Make sure you are logged in at the time then it will be delivered to your reader from then on.
- Wayne Brewin
It depends on the SEOC and the SEOTC taken together i.e is the SEOTC 10% or 70% of the SEOC. The lower % the better.
- Mark McGimpsey
I am aware that SEOC of 30k or less is preferable - I was wondering if there is a fixed number or ratio that is preferable in terms of the SEOTC. Does that make more sense? :) Should I just assume that the percentage-based advice above is the best way forward...?
- Nik
Hi Nik, i don't know of an exact figure but as long as your SEOC is within the target area you are working towards (ie: 30000) then I would consider starting with the lowest SEOTC first, i hope that makes sense.
- Wayne Brewin

Wow, didn't realize there were so many options. I have been using FileZilla for over a year now and love it. Easy to use and have never had a problem with it.

I have used several (paid and free) for work and home and FileZilla is the best free one out there hands down. And honestly, there isn't any reason I can think of that you would need anything else.

just wanted to say thanks again, i have gone with filezilla and it works brilliant, thanks for all the help :-) this room is brilliant :-)

I'd like to get past being an affiliate... Can one do market research by selling a product they technically don't have authorization to sell, and then having the buy now button go to a back order page? Thus building a case to take to the products manufacturer in attempt to become a reseller/distributor?
I read your earlier question about this Connery, and I'm having a stupid day and didn't understand it. If you mean advertise a product on your site so that people click through to the owner's product page to buy I don't see any problem. A lot of people are doing that with Market Samurai so that they're ready to jump as soon as the MS affiliate program starts. I don't know that I'd bother with a product that has no sign of getting an affiliate program though. Chances are you meant something else?
- Isha (Marysia)
I was thinking more on the line of acting like you sold the product on your website but when the customer tried to buy the item they were taken to a page that said we are temporarily out of stock... In my eyes, this essentially builds a case you could take to the manufacturer to prove you could be a reseller/distributor of the given product. This would make you more than an affiliate for the company, you would proceed to make a contract with the given company... Is this feasible?
- Connery Johnson
Ooh, gosh, I think that could be a wee bit unethical Connery - I'd do it the other way, but other peeps might offer alternative advice...
- Isha (Marysia)
Hah, I'm just trying to think outside of the box. I wasn't suggesting I would be taking down credit cards was I? I simply want to find the best way to become a direct reseller/distributor for a company without the dead ends that being an affiliate can create. And as much as we all cherish our ethical values, capitalism is truly an amoral ideology. That's just fact.
- Connery Johnson
If you really want to sell this particular product, why don't you negotiate with them to get the exclusivity for that product or ask them what do they offer if you sell 100 what kind of margin are they willing to give you. Don't spend your time and energy selling something you can't sell. Make sure you have an agreement before promoting.
- eMarketing Hubs - nat014
I really wouldn't go down this line, you may put in a lot of effort to find out there is not a market for it and worse still, you could goto the supplier who could just turn around and say, "Thanks for the feedback, but no thanks" Think a bit wider and either create your own product or an info report about the product, once you have tested the traffic of course.
- Wayne Brewin
I think your beliefs about capitalism are restricting your vision of the possibilities you may find. If you think Capitalism is an amoral ideology then you are likely to only think of ideas in that vein and whilst some success may come from that it will not last. You could try creating a survey about the product with some kind of free report as an incentive to complete the survey, thus building an email list and collecting the proof that people will come to you to buy the product. Good luck
- Rob Cooke
anyone know of affiliate programs where the aff link goes direct to order page? then you could sell it in a context related post and not send to some salespage and/or squeeze page the seller made.
- Warner Carter
You can get that with Commission Junction or other similar affiliate services
- Jorge Blanco
Hi Connery, take a look at my site http://amazingexperiencedays.co.uk this is an affiliate site where when the visitor clicks through the 'BUY NOW" it takes them directly to the specific product of the merchants product order page. Is this what you meant in your question?
- Steve
Amazon has the aStore which allows us to put a buying experience on our web pages without actually leaving our sites. I used this for a Christmas niche. I had some formatting problems, but that might be something to consider. I was not able to build a list though based on customer interactions.
- Frank Dobner
Thanks for all the input everyone, I am researching affiliate's within commission junction now. Yes Steve I want to make the buying experience as seamless as possible for the customers. I would like to try what Nathalie said about negotiating a specific margin with a company but I think I would need a more developed business plan and a tested website before I confront a company head on. And the Amazon aStore is an amazing widget/store in and of itself... I might give it a test on one of my sites.
- Connery Johnson
