Plus what would happen if Twitter went away? All that time I spent invested in building up my community on Twitter would go down the drain. Did you hear abt the lawsuit against Twitter for patent violation?

technically, that might be somewhat true, but under the theory of social capital, we should be able to transport our reputations across networks...

Yes, but look at my stats. 6400 followers on Twitter. 596 on FriendFeed. Yikes. :)

there are so many single points of failure with each network being closed/proprietary/walled-garden-y.

Yes I setup an identi.ca account a while back - just in case twitter ever went out of biz. I need to synch the two up though in terms of tweets.

My Twitter account was suspended for 8 days a few months ago (for no apparent reason) - thought I would never get it back. I have since started to backup my Tweets and who I follow. http://tinyurl.com/bxnnor
