One of our developers created an application that you could send a text message to and it would call you back with a computer automated response. For example, the latest ferry wait times, or how long it would take to cross the border. Unfortunately, limited funding prevented our further use of this tool. (Always great to have a mention in a Tech blog however.)

This could be an interesting application to watch. It allows for crowdsourcing of traffic conditions to find the best routes during heavy congestion or road closures. The challenge is making sure those using the tool don't text and drive.
