"Twice, Infinity Ward asks if you're absolutely sure you want to see it. The scene, the fourth you'll encounter in the most widely anticipated game of the year, could be "disturbing" or "offensive", repeats the warning. You smile and agree that, yes, you are sure you want to see it. This is a videogame. They give them 18 certificates, but only to appease people who don't really understand what's going on. Sure, the images of violence and bloodshed on Modern Warfare's battlefields can be disturbing to an onlooker, but death in a first-person shooter is a five-second setback, a micro-reincarnation designed to provide challenge and an impetus to improve, not distress."

Is anyone else actually purchasing content via Zune? It seems like just another way for Microsoft to nickel & dime users. I wonder if I had a Zune player would I still have to pay for content via Xbox. Not to mention the time constraints reeks of iTunes silliness.

Tomorrow, im going to Sainsburys to Pick up Call of Duty MW2 for the PS3. They are selling it for £26 ($43) How much of a bargain is that for a brand new game?! :)
Nice, I'll be grabbing a PC version at some point. As I have an impromptu day off I can start looking for the best prices for a few games I'm after. Just waiting for my money to come through from my last job.
- Kol Tregaskes
Yeah! Its gonna be awesome. Cant wait to go online with it at least, or get the girlfriend to do the multiplayer mission with me! :D
- Giraffes Up In The AIr
Cool. I got the first one cheap on STeam the other day, might try that later.
- Kol Tregaskes
I wandered around the shops in Horsham last Thursday and saw this in Argos for 50-60 quid! LOL. No chance.
- Kol Tregaskes
I think if you spend more than £30 on a game you are spending too much. Either shop around or wait for the price to drop (which can only be a few weeks).
- Kol Tregaskes
Defo, go play it! Its loads of fun! Its a bit crazy the RRP for this is £55. Sainsburys selling it for less than half. Mental. Just shows you the profit margin that GAME makes.
- Giraffes Up In The AIr
You can pick up classics like BioShock for under a tenner atm. Snapped that up as soon as I saw it. Really looking forward to the sequel. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Asda are selling it tomorrow for £32 as confirmed in the papers today. Tesco havent announced anything i dont think.
- Giraffes Up In The AIr
Actually at £26 they'll be making a little loss on the game, so it's a little puzzling but it's there call and I'm not complaining. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
yeah! Sainsburys dont open til 8am though, so will be getting the lad from college, then driving round to it! I dont care if im late for University, ill never be able to get this game that cheap for a few years guaranteed! :)
- Giraffes Up In The AIr
I think most of the supermarkets are selling new top games cheap nowadays. I know ASDA is one who sells them dirty cheap.

"People didn't really respond all that well to the unveiling of the new Mass Effect character Subject Zero. A troubled lady with attitude and tats, she looked like the kind of person you'd rather have blasted out into space through an air lock than get stuck in a lift with - a particularly poignant worry given the original Mass Effect's excessive elevator-based predilections."

This game totally gives you headshot relief...and thankfully there's very little difference between the PS3 and 360 graphics on Borderlands. :) Pooh pooh, Carlos...no gaming with me for you!
- Alex Scoble
Very little difference on the low-res videos between the Xbox 360 and the PS3, though PS3 does win it. The PC vids didn't play for me but I'm sure it would have wiped the floor clear with both of the consoles.
- Kol Tregaskes
Yeah, that's what they say in the article...that a modern PC will play it a lot better without the slowdowns you get on both 360 and PS3.
- Alex Scoble
I would have watched the HD videos if I had time. I'll try and remember for tomorrow.
- Kol Tregaskes
Not that it matters to me...I can't play PC games on my 55" screen. :) And no, there wasn't enough of a difference either way for them to say that PS3 or 360 was the clear winner.

"Senior Xbox cheerleader Larry Hryb has warned gamers buying second-hand 360s that they run the risk of not being able to connect to Xbox Live. It's all down to the fact that Microsoft has been "actively banning consoles from Xbox Live that have been modified to play pirated games"."

Twitter on Xbox 360: One annoyance is the lack of character count on the system. It is impossible to know when you have reached your 140 character limit.
Wow, I had no idea what this interface would look like having never 360d. Cool shot.

I've posted other screenshot in the Xbox room, for Facebook and Last.fm. It looks great and fun to use, but kind of a headache too. IOW, it's clearly developed by Microsoft.

I think both interfaces are pretty neat. Facebook on the Xbox is better than using the site. Twitter on the Xbox involves a lot of clicking, but you can retweet and fave tweets. I've made it no secret that I detest both the Facebook and Twitter websites, so this is definitely a step up, IMO.

The only thing I would like is to be able to have Twitter and Facebook running in the background while doing other stuff. That would make communication easier, I think, versus using the in-system comm tool.

I have a keypad, so I kept these with the spelling errors, to show what it's like. It's confusing, at first, using the green/orange button for special keys, like an apostrophe, but I got used to it fast.
- Anika
Maybe I'm missing it, but it would be nice if the Twitter interface told you how many character you have left when tweeting. I find my tweets on Xbox are shorter due to guessing.
- Anika
And it is, rather annoying to have to leave my gaming page to go log into Twitter to send a tweet. Should definitely have Twitter running in the background. I have both my netbook and phone on the sofa with me and had to force myself to use Twitter on the Xbox, knowing it would be easier to do it the other way.

I refuse to pay for the service.. I'm used to getting all of that for free with PC gaming, I'll be buggered if they'll charge me for it!
- alphaxion
Yeah I had a free month or so when I first got the console but not played online since. The microphone freaks me out. I just want to play not talk. ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
alpha, yeah it is a rip off. That and have having to buy the wireless adaptor (which I think puts the 360 at the same price as the PS3?).
- Kol Tregaskes
I never talk to people when I play online games. It's not worth it. I don't even put my headset on.
- Anika
I thought you had to have it on? If not, then there is nothing stopping me. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Better off buying a PS3 and getting the PlayStation Network for free.
- Roberto Bonini
I wonder how much the PS3 compares to the 360 if you add the wireless adaptor and the Xbox Live subscription (which is annual!)? I bet it's not much difference now?
- Kol Tregaskes
I like Xbox Live a lot. Multiplayer is rock solid. It's so easy to connect with other people. Access to the Netflix player definitely keeps me with it.
- Rodfather
On the other hand, there is no way to upgrade the wireless adapter in the PS3. There is a new adapter coming to 360 with N-support. (I have now both consoles, btw, but I only play with Xbox 360, though I could get some exclusives for PS3, too)
- Jemm
One option for wireless is to get HomePlug AV plug/ethernet -adapters that support 200Mbps over the mains. I'm planning getting few of those to get physical LAN around the house :)
- Jemm
No, I play a lot of multiplayer games and never talk to other people. The only time I've used the headset in the last 5 years was when a group of us from FF played 1 vs 100 a few months back.
- Anika
There is no denying that the Xbox Live service is very good. I hear bad things about PSN. So perhaps it's worth paying for the service to obtain the quality?
- Kol Tregaskes
steam is just as good as xbox live without paying for it ;) also, no need to buy the wifi connector if you have the console close enough to your router or get a cable long enough to reach ;)
- alphaxion
Steam is pretty good. I've only recently started to use it. I wish there was more games and demos on it though. I see that there are some good deals too but will price compare the prices next weekend.
- Kol Tregaskes
For me, Live is so much better than PSN; there's no comparison. If you like no mics, no cross game chat and uneven network support though, you may like PSN better.

"At this point most of us have been around the x-block long enough to establish a methodology to accepting people as "friends." But what if there was a definitive guide for weeding out all the loud, useless head-setters out there? Yeah! What made you think it was invasive? Nothing about that survey was particularly invasive. All they asked about was your Xbox info, your TV, whether you use a receiver, if you have wireless what router you have, whether you use the 360 for media streaming and how much you use the 360...It's not like they asked for your social security number, birthplace and your mom's maiden name.
- Alex Scoble
And how? I had assumed, that if invited, you'd get an update on your Xbox. Then I remembered that this is Microsoft and they do things the hard way and I may have to actually check my hotmail account.

"Hollywood films continue to skew towards what critics disgustedly refer to as "torture porn," a type of movie most recently popularized by the Saw franchise. These movies are meant to shock the viewer through mutilation and graphic depictions of death and pain. Meanwhile, horror videogames have turned into shoot'em-ups with far flung sci-fi settings (Dead Space) and muscle-bound, invincible protagonists (Resident Evil). Saw partially succeeds in bringing a taste of Hollywood horror to your console by grounding itself in the gritty and depraved world of the popular film series."
