Pencil Vs Camera! - a set on Flickr - http://www.flickr.com/photos...
Ben usually integrates an inventive hand made drawing in front of a realistic background. There are several methods to achieve the same effect (see "Interviews" for more info). Ben’s hand is always clearly visible; it represents the close connection between the viewer, the artist and the artwork. The drawing is always in black and white while the photo is often very colorful, this amplifies the contrast between the two mediums. - Yaniv Golan

Aardvark Continues Running At Full Steam After Google Acquisition, Joins Google Labs - http://techcrunch.com/2010...
"Congrats to the Aardvark folks on the acquisition! Aardvark is cool and well executed. As for the TechCrunch coverage of this story, I am sure a minimal search in the TC database would have uncovered this document, which is probably quite relevant to the story: http://bit.ly/yeddapatent" - Yaniv Golan

Bit.ly Just Got Fu.kd: Facebook And Google Get Into The Short URL Game - http://www.techcrunch.com/2009...
"I cannot help but wonder how long will it take for the premium content publishers to realize the importance of having their own URL shorteners. Today’s web is about data. Letting a third party hold the links to your content and obscure at will the original data is rendering the publisher effectively blind to what may be a large source of their traffic. The rise of the social media as a search venue and the increasing challenges that demand-driven media generation is creating for the traditional search engines might further increase the amount of traffic originating from social media, and hence the amount of traffic originating from URL shorteners. I’ve posted on this as well as on the reliability and dependency issues this creates back in August “Of Breweries and URL Shorteneres” http://yaniv.go...rl-shorteneres/" - Yaniv Golan

My last Twitter thought... People now have businesses based on Twitter being up (iPhone apps and such) and Google and Bing are now paying coin for the fire hose. How long until the reliability of Twitter becomes an issue?
fail-whale (1).png
I believe the reliability of Twitter will improve to a level that it will no longer be an issue. Twitter is maturing and the Fail Whale may someday be a relic, or just during "scheduled" maintenance. - Louis Gray
Louis, that very well may be true, but a year ago not a few people thought the problem would be fossilized by a year later, and here we are :) - Micah
since it's free, they have a lot of time. - Mike Nencetti
I wonder if the Google and Bing relationships included a service level agreement of some kind. I'd also like to see if Google and Bing are getting the same reliability levels as the freebie users; in most enterprises, paying customers would get priority access to server resources. - Kevin Shaum
Wasn't the parting of ways with Blaine Cook ( a year and a half ago) supposed to signal the end to their problems (at least that was the story at the time) -- it seems the problem was elsewhere and still exists. - Brian Sullivan
I am not attempting to sound naive. I talked with Ryan Sarver today, their Director of Platform, at LeWeb, and it was a good discussion. Twitter is growing up. It doesn't have to be my favorite, but it is a utility, and one that is funded well, and has sharp execs. The company is learning how to scale. Despite the occasional whale (like I got today), it's miles ahead of 2008. Understand my lack of favorable bias. :) - Louis Gray
Well I'm glad they are improving their platform. I wish them no harm and would hate to see them get all lawyer'd over reliability. - Johnny
The reliability would have been much less of an issue if we had multiple interoperable microblogging services. Email is reliable enough to base a business on. Do you think this would have been the case if the only email service available was, say, compuserve? - Yaniv Golan

upgrading my Media Center PC to Windows 7.
I'm looking forward to trying it out. I'm hoping that it fixes a problem I was having with my XBox 360s not being able to connect to my Vista PC without rebooting the PC that's cropped up over the course of the past few months. Hoping that all works well. It looks like the upgrade's going to take a long time. It's been running for over an hour now and still is only on stage 2/5 and only 20% done with the "gathering files, settings and properties" stage. - Thomas Hawk
yeah, maybe I should have done a fresh install. didn't want to have to reinstall all my software though. We'll see how it goes. - Thomas Hawk
You'll definitely want a fresh install of Windows 7. - Kol Tregaskes
hmm... 88% of the way through 2/5 now. I tried to nuke my windows Media Player library (the likely culprit for the upgrade taking a long time) prior to the upgrade but Vista wouldn't let me delete the file saying it was "in use." Figured I'd upgrade, then nuke it and reimport my music. - Thomas Hawk
Takes a while the upgrade but I did the upgrade rather than clean install from Vista to 7 with no issues and also resolved old niggling Vista issues, so hopefully will do the same for you. - Russell G
Yeah I have upgraded five Vista machined and clean installed six XP machines. No difference between performance afterwards, so I would say no probs upgrading. - travispuk from iPhone
the main reason why I upgraded was to hopefully fix the problems I had with my XBox 360s not being able to connect to my PC without a reboot every time. The upgrade's made it to step 3/5 now. Seems stuck on "expanding windows files (21%)" though. But I'm sure it just needs more time. - Thomas Hawk
A couple of my machines got stuck at the same point actually Thomas, just let it go it will stop again later, but it will get through. My average time for upgrading is around two hours. - travispuk from iPhone
Getting further. On step 5/5 now it looks like. "Transferring files, settings, and programs." 41% done of step 5. - Thomas Hawk
72% of step 5/5 is now done. Damn, this upgrade may end up bleeding into a second day. - Thomas Hawk
OK! It's installed, rebooting now. - Thomas Hawk
Had to reboot in safe mode to nuke my old WMP library. I'm going to start over with a smaller library in hopes that things go better for me this time around. Reimporting my music now. - Thomas Hawk
Congrats on the Win 7. It's a pleasure. However, do not try to play the Beatles Remastered CDs on it, the DRM prevents these from being played on Windows 7. Go figure. - Yaniv Golan
wow. totally blown away that my Mac was able to connect to my network after the upgrade the first time with no trouble. - Thomas Hawk
