Hg-Git Mercurial Plugin - http://hg-git.github.com/
"This is the Hg-Git plugin for Mercurial, adding the ability to push to and pull from a Git server repository from Hg. This means you can collaborate on Git based projects from Hg, or use a Git server as a collaboration point for a team with developers using both Git and Hg." - Dion Almaer

50 lb down!
16 more to go. - Tudor Bosman
http://www.hmrprogram.com/ - nothing fancy, really; calorie restricted diet (low carb, low fat, but with normal amounts of protein and vitamins) + exercise (not as much as I should be doing, actually). - Tudor Bosman
I'm on what they call Healthy Solutions - http://www.hmrprogram.com/index... - Tudor Bosman
Promise me it's fat, not muscle. :) - l0ckergn0me
awesome! congrats! - Lindsey is Fierce!
Awesome Tudor!!! Congrats!!! - Her Lindsay-ness
Congratulations! Good job. - ♥patricia♥
l0ckergn0me: The program (strongly) encourages exercise, and the diet has very high amounts of protein in order to make your body quickly rebuild any muscle that it loses. And, based on my personal experience, it is mostly fat -- I feel stronger than I did before I started. - Tudor Bosman
Congrats!!! That's awesome! - Carmen
I'm on the "if food drops on the floor, don't eat it" diet. - Gabe
That's great. I am jealous. How does the food taste? - Bindu Reddy
Bindu: Not bad at all. I was expecting it to taste much more like "diet food" but it's actually okay. Of course, eating the same things for 7 months (I've been doing this since March) can become tiresome. I've gotten less strict about the program lately (I will indulge in "real food" at a FriendFeed social event, or a birthday party, or Thanksgiving, for example). - Tudor Bosman
16 more until my arbitrary goal weight; only 7 lb until I won't be considered "overweight" any more according to most height/weight charts. for probably the first time in my life. - Tudor Bosman

Jonathan Haidt on the moral roots of liberals and conservatives | Video on TED.com - http://www.ted.com/index...
I'm left wondering why democrats are generally portrayed as being in favor of more regulation and republicans in favor of less (in theory). It seems like liberals should want less regulation (and greater freedom). - Sanjeev Singh
Well, I would dispute the notion that deregulation=freedom. At least in the desirable sense of the word freedom. - Benjy Weinberger
interesting quote: "..once you engage the psychology of teams, it shuts down open-minded thinking." - MikeAmundsen
Good point Benjy, I suppose a lot of people on the left want more regulation to (ironically) protect freedom, and people on the right want more regulation to increase conformity (gay marriage, etc.). I was thinking of regulation purely in the latter sense. - Sanjeev Singh
very bold statement: "our 'righteous minds' were designed to: 1) unite us into teams; 2) divide us against other teams; and 3) blind us to the truth." that's a lot for me to accept. - MikeAmundsen
@Singh: when you consider Haidt's point about fairness/harm focus for liberals, regulation makes more sense. same for liberal's low focus on ingroup and authority. regulation can be seen as a way to increase fairness and downlplay group domination over the individual. doesn't always turn out that way, tho. - MikeAmundsen
Apparently you've been blinded to the truth Mike :) - Paul Buchheit
I want smarter regulation, not more or less. - Alex Scoble
@Paul: +1 - MikeAmundsen
+bunches to Alex - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
@Alex: for me, it's also about *who* is 'regulated.' gov't? business? citizens? and the same for who is protected via a regulation. more/less reg is not the only measure, eh? - MikeAmundsen
Very true, Mike...we tend to express things in linear terms (liberal vs conservative, more vs less regulation, red vs blue, etc.) when things in the world aren't linear like that. We are pretty good as a species at boiling down the complex into the simple, but sometimes things get lost in that process. There is no us vs them...there is just us. - Alex Scoble
@Alex: i'm with ya. +1 - MikeAmundsen
"+1" seems linear to me. - Amit Patel
I think it's more fundamental. Economic deregulation allows those in economic power to keep power (Golden rule = "He who has the gold makes the rules"). From the talk, conservative's desire for status quo and respect for authority. Liberal's advocate for the weak, those without power (fight the man!). Therein lies the regulatory disconnect. Whether government is supposed to protect the weak from the powerful and force change or provide deference for those who are powerful in search of stability. - mikepk
@Michael: removing regulations that keep prices artificially high for a set of producers can have the effect of killing a business sector. maintaining regs that prop up a set of producers can allow others to undercut the market and cause the same effect. reg!=status-quo - MikeAmundsen
@MikeAmundsen I was responding to Singh as to why liberals may be painted as more pro-reg vs conservatives. Yes, you're right, regulation is not a black and white thing, but the regulations most fought by those with power (minimum wage, social security, union protection etc...) are protections for the weak against the powerful. Subsidies and other market manipulations are more subtle. - mikepk
@Michael: i see, we're cool. - MikeAmundsen
Both liberals and conservatives make the mistake of assuming that government (or any institution) WILL do what it "should" do. - Paul Buchheit

Google Chrome and the future of browsers - http://factoryjoe.com/blog...
As usual, Chris gets the big picture. - Chris Baskind
Chris is a tech superstar that I listen to deeply. He is excited by Google's moves and lays out the poor execution on the Mozilla side of the fence. - Robert Scoble
What I missed in the Chrome comic was a mention of browser add-ons like Firefox's. Surfing the web without Adblock Plus is hard to imagine. - Ole Begemann
or without the delicious add-ons... or the evernote add-on... but at least bookmarklets are (likely?) to still work. - Justin Long
The comic was aimed squarely at devs. There was little mention of what would make end users choose Chrome over IE. - Paul Grav
Best read so far, been waiting for a commentary like this... - Kevin Cearns
Gee, Ole... why wouldn't Google want you running AdBlock Plus? Can't imagine. ;) (Now, I agree, add-ons are cool, but as a publisher, I'm not going to weep over that one...) Anyway, I wouldn't count Firefox out. Obviously, what Google addresses is the performance/reliability side and building around apps. Both FF and Chrome are built around standards, both closely married to JavaScript for what they do next. I think this could be a great rivalry, frankly. - Peter Kirn from twhirl
They talk explicitly about plugins on pages 29-32 of the comic so you should be able to have your AdBlock. I seriously doubt Google cares that much about AdBlockers -- which makes up an extremely small percent of the overall market, and which is probably made up of people who don't click ads anyway. - Chris Messina
Chris: I suspect by plugins they mean Flash etc. and not Firefox-style extensions. But I hope I'm wrong. - Ole Begemann
But will it support 1Password on the Mac? - Khürt Williams from twhirl
Will they, wont they. Time will tell. Who do you want to hate today? - Steve Blamey
Interesting article. More choice = better for the users. But I think that you are over-hyping the death of Firefox. As far I can tell. Firefox 3.0 is much better than Firefox 2.0 and Firefox 3.1 will be better than Firefox 3.0. Multi-process, V8 and native Gears support are definitely a step forward but firefox is part of an ecosystem so I would not count them out (A lot of people said... more... - Edwin Khodabakchian
Hmm, well, I didn't claim to foretell the death of Firefox at all. In fact, Firefox will likely continue to gain marketshare and attention (as the web is still expanding). One of my points is that Mozilla missed the opportunity to be the foundation of Chrome -- and will now have to play catch up -- instead of set the agenda for what's next. - Chris Messina
Do you think that was a technical decision or a control decision. From the last couple of interviews I have seen of John Lilly, I think that he has a really clear vision around performance, usability and ecosystem. Performance is coming in 3.1. Usability is driven by some of the concept Labs has been pushing out and ecosystem come from the fact that there are 100s of extensions to... more... - Edwin Khodabakchian
I am using chrome right now, and I really miss my shareaholic addon as well as my stumbleupon bar. hopefully the developers get crackin for plugins for this browser. - James Campbell
I'm hoping to see some good progress from Mozilla. I do worry a bit about them fish-tailing and not being able to say no to developers (whose needs are often very different from regular folks). We shall see. @James Campbell:There will be a need for web hooks, no doubt... and places to insert additions or modifications to your browser experience -- I don't really doubt that (some standardization there would be nice too). - Chris Messina
The bookmarklets work just fine. I really wouldn't miss any of my add-ons...but the fact that I can't scroll up with my mouse is a deal breaker. talking about plugins/add-ons/extensions when people can't even scroll up is kinda putting the cart before the horse...just sayin - Rahsheen ™, Coach of FF

You Weren't Meant to Have a Boss - http://www.paulgraham.com/boss...
" A job at a big company is like high fructose corn syrup: it has some of the qualities of things you're meant to like, but is disastrously lacking in others." I feel the same about prizes various companies award to a "lucky" customer - "live 3 years for free" etc. I guess you'll be pretty bummed after those 3 years expire. Beyond processed food and prize metaphors, modern society constantly sells us and blinds us with the idea of this "easy life" as the dream we should all strive for. - Nenad Nikolic
The same is true for other professionals such as a translator. For years I have been thinking about if it's better off to form a company for this or just do my job as an individual - one-man company. I think this article makes things clear. Large translation/localization companies may not be the right choice. - Jianjun Zhang from twhirl
big fan of your articles, though would not completely agree with them all the time, but love the idealistic pov. - Krishna Gade
Everyone should read this fine piece of article! I'm not sure about some of the metaphors, yet I totally agree with your point. Yet, for various reasons, humans tend to live/work/stay in huge numbers... I am also very curious about your ideas/thoughts on working in small teams and creating harmony... Care to give some clues ? - Alemsah Ozturk
It rings very very true, I just left yahoo after 5 years and joined a small startup ( fav.or.it), and i have probably been stretched more in the last month than i was in the whole last year at yahoo, and despite the hardships, i am loving every second of it. I have found areas of my brain starting to turn on again now I'm free from the corporate stupor. However one rift point i am finding is the vast difference in culture between the two, i have to tread carefully to make sure I dont bring the worst in. - Tim Hawkins
