"Before you get your Michael Jackson tramp stamp memorial tat, you should take a look at these. It's probably not a good idea"

Zach, yup! In the US, it's either a parking lot or a parking garage.
- Rochelle
I had forgotten - parking garage is definitely the term to use! holy crap. that's actually really scary.
- Zach Landes
Zach, how long have you been there? Are you from the US originally?
- Rochelle
I've been here 10 months. I don't really have any close American friends, though there were some in my course. So that might explain the terminology change...and yes, I'm from CA.

"WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration said Tuesday it could continue to imprison non-U.S. citizens indefinitely even if they have been acquitted of terrorism charges by a U.S. military commission. Jeh Johnson, the Defense Department's chief lawyer, told the Senate Armed Services Committee that releasing a detainee who has been tried and found not guilty was a policy decision that officials would make based on their estimate of whether the prisoner posed a future threat." SICKENING

I wonder if Obama really plans to restore due process of law? His legacy will be very much tainted if he allows this to continue.

While everyone is so concerned with social media, I think the most exciting changes yet to come are in journalism and web-based applications
"As American newspapers shrink and close and journalists look for ways to continue their work, you could say that the news business has moved into a phase of "rapid development," to borrow a term from software developers. Journalists are launching a series of start-ups, some short-lived, with different approaches to coverage, audience and funding. The process continues today as a group of former Seattle Post-Intelligencer journalists unveils InvestigateWest, a regional, nonprofit investigative news organization."

"Why eating well on the go is so important If we could come up with the perfect nutrition plan for you that included exactly what you needed to eat to reach your goals, you wouldn’t follow it. Don’t believe us? How often have you seen people diagnosed with lifestyle related disease who don’t take the necessary steps to improve their situation? They say they want to “eat better.” They see health professionals who tell them how to “eat better.” Yet they end up feeling guilty for not “eating better.”"

"Google Inc. is preparing to launch an operating system for personal computers, a direct assault on the turf of software giant Microsoft Corp., which has long dominated the market for software that runs PC applications. The Silicon Valley Internet giant announced the new move in a blog post late Tuesday night. It said the software, which will initially target low-end portable PCs called netbooks, would be based on its Chrome Web browser and available to consumers in the second-half of 2010."

I bumped into a girl i've met at a party and seen here and there. A few hours later she sent me a message on facebook asking for help moving some suitcases to be followed by her buying me a beer. I accepted but told her I was on to her little plot and she had better watch where she put her hands ;) Anyway, real nice girl and cute, to boot. I think we'll have to have a repeat. Her: http://bit.ly/tyxlz

Eh, 2 hours alone + beer + chemistry is the reason I said "I think". I use the term in a broad sense to mean doing something with a female with a romantic tone. That tone may be explicit or found in the subtext.

I'm watching Roddick vs. Federer. Great match - wish I'd bought a ticket!
"Joost, a much-vaunted online video startup, today announced that it will offer a white-label video hosting platform, thus entering a crowded market littered with the carcasses of other failed video hosts. The company is also losing its famous chief executive, Mike Volpi, whom it’s replacing with Matt Zelesko, the current vice president of engineering. And it plans to cut a portion of its workforce — between about 70 of its remaining 90 employees, according to Advertising Age. It also shut down its office in the Netherlands. When I read about all the planned changes at the company earlier today, the first thought that crossed my mind was: Stick a fork in it; Joost is done."

I am reviewing a colleague's paper on Chinese accounting systems for a workshop tomorrow. It appears as if the entire thing was translated directly from Chinese in babelfish. I am so lost.
Its going to be hard to avoid embarrassing one or both of us. I have to appear to understand and be critical of the paper, which will be difficult considering its illegible. But I don't want to slag her for language difficulties..
