"Hailed as the most imaginative sci-fi since The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by the New York Daily News, LEXX follows the nomadic existence of four misfit characters who have inadvertently stolen the most powerful weapon of destruction ever made: a Manhattan-sized, genetically modified insect named the Lexx. Worn out from the destruction of the planets Fire and Water, the Lexx has slowed to a crawl. Exhausted and desperate to find a new home, the crew includes the former security guard, Captain Stanley Tweedle, the luscious love slave Xev, the dead-but-deadly assassin Kai, and the robot head 790."

"The cake's history, aside from its being baked a few months before the Titanic sank, is shrouded in mystery. Two of Girard's friends, Audrey Staber and Dick Scheimo, found it on a St. Louis Park closet shelf while doing an estate-sale assessment in 1992. The elderly resident had died with no heirs, and Girard never learned her name before Staber and Scheimo subsequently passed away. But the cake came in a box with cryptic inscriptions: "Xmas cake Baked in dec. 1911" on top, "Xmas Cake baked by my mother's brother Alex died Dec. 27. Was operated on Xmas day" on the bottom."

twilight update: 400 pages read. bella swan is the worst character in any book i've ever read. had a dream last night combining sex and the city and twilight it was better, samantha style convos with edward even though vampires should NOT sparkle. can't wait to reread my anne rice books
I know but the dialogue is just sooo stupid. I don't mean all the sex from sex and the city really but it was just BETTER lol I've been doing sex and the city marathons the past couple weeks watching a couple discs a day
- Angela P.
I dunno maybe if there was some reason bella loved edward other than he smells good and he's just so beautiful and perfect other than ya know that pesky drinking blood thing and bella maybe had a personality the book would be better

I mean I know i was reading romance novels when I was 11 and the stories in those are sooo much better and I don't even mean the sex parts cus honestly if the story is good you can skip the housewife porny parts.

Yeah, seems like the Twilight series is all set up and no payoff.
- Alex Scoble
I will read the series. I told my cousins I would, but I cannot see the appeal. Especially from people I know that have better taste and have read better books than this. I was skeptical about Harry Potter when I started reading those and ended up loving them. This unfortunately I was right about before I started reading.
- Angela P.
hope you are sane after reading all that?

I think the laughter keeps me sane. I have laughed quite a bit during this book, and it's not listed as a comedy.

Loc, because I do need the computer and Internet for projects I'm working on (primarily writing and music). I just need to find a balance and not get swept up in crazy conversations.
- joey
Can you unplug from the Internet during the times you don't need it for your projects and just plug in as needed?
- vicster
I could if I had willpower :) I do need to try to unplug a bit more. I think I mostly just need to learn to use hide more so that I don't get so invested in things that frustrate me or that I get swept up in. And not just on FF. Maybe it's just the time of year.

Just played the L4D2 Demo, sorry but it's not worth it. Although it had a nice graphics update it had the same feel as L4D. The melee weapon was a nice touch but once I picked it up and the number two gun I lost the use of the hand gun. You also get to pick between an Uzi or a silenced Uzi, a pump or semi and a riot shotgun.
there was a few thing's that bugged me about L4D one is with all those military around you can find a gun with a flashlight but no M16 with a 302 attached to it or a m249.

Has anyone stopped to think about what those"save the earth people/tree huger's/hippies" types drive? The VW bus and bugs one of the worst polluting vehicles. give's new meaning to "Save the Earth suck more carbon"
Well unfortunately, those tree huggers and hippies can't afford newer, better cars because they don't make much being activists. However, their carbon footprint overall is so vastly reduced, that them driving a VW bus doesn't bring them anywhere near to the gross polluter status that most Americans exhibit with their lifestyles. I can buy myself a Smartcar, but until I start living completely off the grid, I'm still a gross polluter.

It's hard to avoid generalizations when dealing with managing natural resources and the environment. @Amanda: brilliant stuff. a lot of environmental hand-waving can get you a Nobel PEACE prize--something that struck me as odd, but whatever--not to mention the $1M purse that goes along with the medal. I saw 'An Inconvenient Truth' when it first came out and left the theater shaking my head at the audacity of his allegations, but people bought into it! He wouldn't have gotten nearly the amount of attention he did if oil prices didn't escalate like they did. (cont.)

Yep, I'm in the 1% crowd that doesn't even own a car.. AND a Republican. :-)
- Ken
all that being said, I don't think Gore is an idiot; he is just pandering to a growing group within the population that is misinformed either by choice or design. there needs to be a compromise from both sides, that's what eventually is going to happen, and the world will be better off for it.
- grant fox
I agree, grant, Al Gore is a lot of things, idiot is definitely not one of them.
- Alex Scoble
I consider Gore an idiot not because of his film but because of how huge a hypocrite he's been. He presents us with this film, and all this data, and asks us to think about the environment...and then he does little to show us that he's walking the talk. Perhaps "idiot" is too strong a word, but there it is. I can't unsay what I've already said.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
if you think of environmentalism as a religion and accept that there are radicals in every religion, then you just write it off as par for the course and move on. it's when the radicals get listened to by the masses that you have to worry; the Taliban, Hitler, etc. But doesn't that usually happen under extreme circumstances? This is how I've concluded that although I get annoyed by the "tree-huggers" because of their inability to listen to me as much as they want me to listen to them, (cont.)
- grant fox
they might represent a serious problem at the core and that I shouldn't so easily dismiss their cries.
- grant fox
@grant: Very true. As someone once said, "The extreme always seems to make an impression." Unfortunately the radicals do kind of numb people to their cause by just becoming nuisances. Or wasting tax payers money to build a tunnel for frogs that don't use it.

Having spent some time with Warhammer, WoW just looks crappy to me. I don't know why they don't make another client for people with modern hardware, a la Eve Online.
- Christopher A Carr
I dig the more cartoony nature of WoW versus the other games out there, to be honest. Did Guild Wars for awhile, which was a bit more realistic looking, but that got really boring. And for as "crappy" as WoW is graphically, it's still pretty decent and has some consistent landscape effects.
- Jon, the Beartato of FF
I understand they have a huge subscription base running the game on old hardware that they don't want to lose, but why not do a second client for those with the hardware to run it? If you're more pvp than pve oriented in WoW, you should check out Warhammer -- it's quite a bit more hard core, and is much less kiddie-looking.
- Christopher A Carr
Warhammer was too much of a snoozer for me. And way too PvP (which is why I left Guild Wars in the dust extremely early on). I'm with Jonathan...the graphics on WoW may not be all that, but they're what I enjoy looking at and the gameplay still beats the pants off of other PvE MMO's. (Hey, Jonathan...I see you're a Nelf Hunter. Me too. Let's be bestest friends forever! :D) Tried to give...

To each their own, I guess. I hate jumping through PvE hoops...wanna kill stuff -- and by "stuff" I mean things that fight back intelligently. WAR's superior PvP/PvR makes it much more entertaining to me than WoW. And it's not just that WoW is not the greatest looking thing out there -- it looks really, really antiquated. And there's every bit "as much to" WAR as there is to WoW. Back to graphics, compare the above image to this: http://images.strategyinformer.com/screens...
- Christopher A Carr
Oh, and WAR does have "public quests," which is an interesting PvE feature that WoW doesn't have.
- Christopher A Carr
Yeah, but if the realistic graphics don't appeal to us as much as the cartoonish graphics of WoW do, then no amount of screen caps are going to change that. I put gameplay first, graphics second. It's how I was able to tolerate the crap look of most games over the years. :) Shit, without that, I would have never made it through Diablo II...

Night Elf? NIGHT ELF? I 'm so disappointed in you, Hardesty.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
With WotLK they have upped the polys, but still it doesn't look bad for a game that was released in 2004! Besides, the biggest gripper WoW has is the vivid Lore - tho much of it is ripped from warhammer anyway. I've known plenty of people who have gone off to play AoC and WAR... every time, they end up back in WoW because they simply don't compare. Oh, and if it isn't a Horde toon, you've made a mistake ;)

LoTRO i haven't tried yet.WoW + WothLK yes, of course as well as Runes of Magic (RoM), Warhammer Online and now Lost Chaos. The 'graphic engine' of WoW might appeal already a bit 'outdated', but as alphaxion wrote, imho WoW doesn't look bad after all. What i currently don't get out of my head: Will Blizz continue with the - somewhat 'expensive' monthly subscription fee - whilst RoM and other 'free to play' games get millions (!) of new fans? (Rd today, RoM, for Germany Frogster, is good biz / shop payment)

i fade in and out of playing WoW a lot. I'm lucky that I have guild that doesn't care if I take a few weeks off. Still my favorite mmorpg.

LOTRO is beautiful to look at but the gameplay puts me to sleep. My guild at the time that game came out tried to migrate over to it and ended up coming back within a week. @Joe: one of my main alts is a Tauren Hunter. Suckit. :P

I've been with Guild Wars pretty much from the start (will always be a fan) yes the end game leads you more towards PvP, however like all games it too had it flaws. Cold Pizza > Hot Pizza. And if you truely have the resolve to eat just 2 pieces a day Tina, then it is a good idea. I would destroy the whole thing.
- Matthew DeVries
Well, therein lies the problem Matthew. I can stop at two slices from their big pizza, but the big pie won't fit in the mini-fridge at work. So I'd have to get a 14" or 16", and two slices from those might not do me in. Hmmm...
