Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups... -- Pros: FF has many of the same features as FF. Many of us are there already. Cons: Real ID only. Pokes. Privacy issues. App requests. Other stuff people don't like.

Google Plus: [central location forthcoming] Pros: Many of the same features as FF. Hangouts. Cons: Real ID only. Not lifestreaming or aggregation.

So, beyond FB, Twitter, G+, Reddit, or Geochat -- Any other nominations? Will we all scatter to the winds, or could we possibly agree on a new place?
- Stephen Mack #TeamMomo
I'm active on Twitter, G+, and Tumblr, so I'll continue interacting with people who are there. If I see that FFers are hanging out at some other place I might become active there as well.
- John (bird whisperer)
No, there's nothing like that on Tumblr that I know of. I just follow individuals that I know are there (some of them former FFers).
- John (bird whisperer)
Stephen, I don't believe Tumblr is built that way. I do understand some users have a sense of community but there isn't a place where all users can converge and have conversations in one location. They have DMs but that's it.

Stephen, I'll have to poke Jorge. We're currently in the process of moving the service to http://geostre.am, but he hasn't set up the server there. And I'm decoupling the backend. I'll see if we can fix it. On the plus side, your account was registered, just not redirected properly, and you can log in.

I'm not old enough for facebook or twitter so i hope it doesn't come to that
- SteVe C
Yeah. I haven't heard anything about diaspora in months.

I wondered whatever happened to pip.io (which I didn't use) and just saw that the guy had closed it in favor of ha.rve.st (still in private beta).
- Ruchira S. Datta
I like groups/rooms, but I really don't want to have to resort to FB as a FF replacement. G+ is more palatable in that regard, but I find it really annoying most of the time. Gah! I am so lost w/o FF!

Ruchira, Pip.io just never took off. Ha.rve.st is supposed to be a content aggregator/distributor, allowing you to interact with groups like G+, but also send stuff to FB and Twitter. It was actually supposed to go into Semi-Public Beta yesterday evening, but some bugs cropped up.

Got enough tech experts here.. why not just create a FF Clone?
- Me
It was attempted at least once, http://friendfeed.com/openff. It failed because of PHP, and lack of clear goals. The most interesting thing to come from that was from Directuer, who create soc-nodes.

I've worked on parts of the system over the past few years, but often have gotten distracted by database stuff which kills my motivation.

Thanks for the G+ share. I hadn't been on G+ for so long I had to reset password. Now I have FB and G+ to never have to go through withdrawal again.
- Janet:#TeamMonique
Is Diaspora still there? I think I logged in once.
- M F
It's still there, but nothing (okay, little) has changed. :(

The FriendFeeders FB group seemed to get quite a bit of traffic, but I'm open to the idea of trying out Reddit. G+ would be a good nomination too. In the meantime, please keep on posting your #SocialMediaBackup usernames/contact info. I signed up for About.me (thanks to Zulema) -- http://about.me/zeigen

Selimx, from what I can see, although the UI is very similar, Quup is not really a clone...yet? No importing of feeds. Also a bit of a problem if you don't understand Turkish. Even when set to English, still much of the site isn't in English. But it's nice to see the Turkish members of Friendfeed have some alternative place to go. I understand it's new and still beta, so I will check back there once in awhile to see how it is progressing. If it actually does become a Friendfeed clone, it might be a good alternative for all of us.

i haven't read all the comments, saw this too late, but surely all you geeks can create a new social network? :-)
