In case FF goes away again but never comes back, where do we go?
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups... -- Pros: FF has many of the same features as FF. Many of us are there already. Cons: Real ID only. Pokes. Privacy issues. App requests. Other stuff people don't like. - Stephen Mack
Twitter: I don't know of any good central list of all of us, but there are some lists posted (https://twitter.com/i..., and https://twitter.com/i... for example). I suggest we all subscribe to https://twitter.com/friendfeed to start with. Pros: Brevity. Allows anonymity. Cons: Not feature rich, hard to converse. - Stephen Mack
Google Plus: [central location forthcoming] Pros: Many of the same features as FF. Hangouts. Cons: Real ID only. Not lifestreaming or aggregation. - Stephen Mack
Reddit: See http://friendfeed.com/sglassm... Pros: I don't know much about Reddit. Cons: I don't know much about Reddit. - Stephen Mack
http://geochat.io / http://geostre.am Disclosure: I am a developer. - NOT THE CRICKET
Wait, what's wrong with Pokes? - Zulema ❧ spicy cocoa tart
They're well, uh, Pokes. - Dennis Jernberg
So, beyond FB, Twitter, G+, Reddit, or Geochat -- Any other nominations? Will we all scatter to the winds, or could we possibly agree on a new place? - Stephen Mack
I'm active on Twitter, G+, and Tumblr, so I'll continue interacting with people who are there. If I see that FFers are hanging out at some other place I might become active there as well. - John (bird whisperer)
(I doubt we'll all agree...) - Stephen Mack
John, is there any kind of central "FriendFeed Tumblr" to use as a meeting point? - Stephen Mack
I guess we could all individually post our other social media profiles to allow people to subscribe. - Stephen Mack
*pokes Dennis* - Zulema ❧ spicy cocoa tart
No, there's nothing like that on Tumblr that I know of. I just follow individuals that I know are there (some of them former FFers). - John (bird whisperer)
Stephen, I don't believe Tumblr is built that way. I do understand some users have a sense of community but there isn't a place where all users can converge and have conversations in one location. They have DMs but that's it. - Zulema ❧ spicy cocoa tart
POKES - AJ Batac
Ow! *pokes back* - Dennis Jernberg
*pokes Dennis back* - Zulema ❧ spicy cocoa tart
Here's a dumb question. Can I search for groups using the iOS Facebook app? - Stephan from iPhone
Jimminy, I tried to register at Geochat and got a 500 error upon creating an account. - Stephen Mack
Twitter, Tumblr, Last.fm, Flickr= zoblue G+= https://plus.google.com/1173398... Or just go here: http://about.me/zoblue - Zulema ❧ spicy cocoa tart
Stephen, I'll have to poke Jorge. We're currently in the process of moving the service to http://geostre.am, but he hasn't set up the server there. And I'm decoupling the backend. I'll see if we can fix it. On the plus side, your account was registered, just not redirected properly, and you can log in. - NOT THE CRICKET
I'm not old enough for facebook or twitter so i hope it doesn't come to that - Steve C Team Marina
diaspora is kinda like ff. - Summer
What's the story with diaspora? I thought it was finished? - Stephen Mack
Yeah. I haven't heard anything about diaspora in months. - Dennis Jernberg
I wondered whatever happened to pip.io (which I didn't use) and just saw that the guy had closed it in favor of ha.rve.st (still in private beta). - Ruchira S. Datta
I like groups/rooms, but I really don't want to have to resort to FB as a FF replacement. G+ is more palatable in that regard, but I find it really annoying most of the time. Gah! I am so lost w/o FF! - Jenny H. from Android
Ruchira, Pip.io just never took off. Ha.rve.st is supposed to be a content aggregator/distributor, allowing you to interact with groups like G+, but also send stuff to FB and Twitter. It was actually supposed to go into Semi-Public Beta yesterday evening, but some bugs cropped up. - NOT THE CRICKET
Got enough tech experts here.. why not just create a FF Clone? - Me
It was attempted at least once, http://friendfeed.com/openff. It failed because of PHP, and lack of clear goals. The most interesting thing to come from that was from Directuer, who create soc-nodes. - NOT THE CRICKET
I've worked on parts of the system over the past few years, but often have gotten distracted by database stuff which kills my motivation. - NOT THE CRICKET
For those that are curious, I just shared my G+ "FFers" circle. https://plus.google.com/u... - COMPLICATED MR. NOODLE
Thanks for the G+ share. I hadn't been on G+ for so long I had to reset password. Now I have FB and G+ to never have to go through withdrawal again. - Janet
The abyss. - sofarsoShawn from iPhone
^^^ I thought that's where FF's going away to eventually... - Dennis Jernberg
Only if it stares long enough in it - sofarsoShawn from iPhone
Is Diaspora still there? I think I logged in once. - M F
The FriendFeeders FB group seemed to get quite a bit of traffic, but I'm open to the idea of trying out Reddit. G+ would be a good nomination too. In the meantime, please keep on posting your #SocialMediaBackup usernames/contact info. I signed up for About.me (thanks to Zulema) -- http://about.me/zeigen - Stephen Mack
Here's a direct link to the subreddit: http://www.reddit.com/r... - Steve and 4 other people
Thanks, Steve! I signed up... but I can't be "zeigen" there, so I already hates it to pieces. - Stephen Mack
I signed up as well. - DB, Lil LB's Dad
I wonder of Paul or someone has a copy of the FF source code and we could just run our own copy? - Steve and 4 other people

http://quup.com friendfeed clone - selimx
Selimx, from what I can see, although the UI is very similar, Quup is not really a clone...yet? No importing of feeds. Also a bit of a problem if you don't understand Turkish. Even when set to English, still much of the site isn't in English. But it's nice to see the Turkish members of Friendfeed have some alternative place to go. I understand it's new and still beta, so I will check back there once in awhile to see how it is progressing. If it actually does become a Friendfeed clone, it might be a good alternative for all of us. - April Russo
i haven't read all the comments, saw this too late, but surely all you geeks can create a new social network? :-) - Halil
Pheed just recently opened up... http://ff.im/16HWk7 - Adriano
