They may also have a subscription model as well as a pay per issue model. Im glad they've done this, and the questions will all be answered shortly. I hope to see many more doing the same, like .net would be amazing."

"This is really great to see. I hope more people use it in order to get a better representation. So far 67% for Lib Dems, but then the people submitting will be mainly of one stereotype right now i.e. i found out about this through twitter where i follow web designers and other geeks, and find we are pretty like minded, but what about all the non geeks on Twitter, Facebook and Digg? They may feel quite differently, and may not come accross this site and then not be represented in the stats."

Hi Marc. Yes basically put, Friendfeed is like Twitter with comments. It also aggregates all your different media inputs, giving much more of a rich media stream of your feeds to others, and vice versa.

I would also say the ability to join groups/topics and all varieties of different discussion groups and rooms allows a far greater interaction with different communities than Twitter alone allows

Twitvid.. the important part is vid. Most twit* sites out there have nothing to do with video. Leo's trademark is for video related to TWiT. So logically twitvid is in his firing range.

John: Trademark law is very specific. You MUST defend your trademarks or you lose them. That's why I got cease and desist letters in college when I used Kleenex to mean generically tissues.

That what the cease and desist letter is for , all they have to do is call and work it out. However if the ignore the letter, is he suppose to say oh well that's ok. His trademark Twit is for audio and video, he has too protect his trademark

regardless of whether this is a joke or not, don't sue over an emotional reaction, especially if the company cannot possibly harm you in any way, and in all likelihood will serve to call more attention to your media. it is too bad the IP laws of the world are based on human emotion rather than any true economic realities.

If Leo doesn't sue to protect his Twit trademark (in regards to video, podcasting, etc.), someone else could create a Twit streaming "channel" and in turn eventually get the trademark and force Leo to change the name of his network.

I personally would be fine with twitvid being owned by someone else. I dont think it will detrimental to the TWiT empire. As Bart said, i dont think of TWiT when i see twitpic. Id be interested to see where this goes tho.

noticed that twitvid is also trademarked, they did the search and didn't contact Leo before getting the trademark so I am sure they knew he'd be contacting them. I bet they hoped he would ignore them.

Leo, I back you 100% on keeping your trademark. It should have been tweetvid.com from the start. Not twit. If Leo does not sue, he will loose the trademark entirely if its not defended.

How do you prevent someone from using their URL .. their domain name that they own. Aren't they http://www.twitvid.com ??? If you own that domain wouldn't you be able to use that Name .. TwitVid .. or TwitVid.Com anyway you wanted? I guess that means there is someone who would recommend I should have trademarked my domain name .. one of the best in the history of the planet? Don't you have something better to do? Personal reputaton is more important than brand (no, not the same thing.) People love and grok you for who you are and what you do. Give people some credit for being able to distinguish what goes on at other internet sites from what you do. This is an old school mindset perpetuated by lawyers to keep the money rolling in.

Sigh, whether or not you agree, you HAVE to protect your trademark is this manner or risk losing it, and then there could legally be a twit2.com. While you may not agree with it that's how the legal system works. So don't shoot the messenger; lobby your representative to relook at the matter
