http://cliqset.com/user... - I've added most of you on this list in the hopes that if we do have to move on to cliqset, it will be easier for me to transition over
- Wang Yip
http://cliqset.com/user... like written earlier, created an account there, just in case... Friendfeed gathering all my feeds I merely added FF as feed on cliqset for fear of redundancy.
- lelapin
http://cliqset.com/user... Not feeding from Twitter - to cut the noise down. Instead, from Identi.ca - which feeds here to FF - so FriendFeed isn't included either. Less is more.
- A Mitchell
I agree, as Twitter has a tendency to go fail whale at times. Identi.ca on the other hand rarely does.
- Robert Sanchez Jr
Important microblog posts can start on Identi.ca and go to Twitter and here to FF at the same time. Replies start and finish on Twitter. By not pulling in from Twitter here to FF and Cliqset, it keeps followers from being overloaded. Goog/Bing search better on Identi.ca and FF than Twitter, treating both as blogs versus Twitter which is *.*

And where the eff is the public beta download link ? I´m an early access beta tester but since it´s now public I thought I´d just get it from the normal site.
- Thomas Bøhm
Just log in to your account and go to downloads and the betas are all there.
- Josh Haley
Ah.. a bit low on sugar there...thanks.
- Thomas Bøhm
Found out the hard way: on windows, if you aren't getting video playback with this new beta, you need to install the latest directx drivers. Worked for me.
- Josh Haley
The new Boxee - OK, whoa. If you want to use the library mode to watch TV shows (that you already have downloaded), it will redirect to the streaming site of it's owner like Fox, ABC, CBS, etc. To watch your own files, you have to use Files mode.

- Morgan Haley
Can I use the boxee to tap into my DVR'd show in a different room?
- Amani
I don't think so, Amani, unless the DVR in question was somehow broadcasting it's shows as a compatible server on the network that Boxee could connect to.

Challenge: I want a DNLA-compliant Digital Media Renderer (DMR) that I can listen to music to via Windows Media Player 12's "Play To" feature in Windows 7. Source PC is in computer room, DMR is in my bedroom. Find me the lowest cost option, wireless bridge (if necessary) and speakers (internal or external) included. Thanks!
So far the 2 best options I've seen (pictured above) - the SoundBridge Radio & the Sonos ZonePlayer S5, are shockingly expensive for what I want them to do. The SoundBridge doesn't even do 802.11n, which means I'd have to buy a wireless bridge (~$86) to fit it into my network. Sonos, on the other hand, seems to be an exercise in squeezing as much $ out of their users as possible. I'd be looking at a whopping $400 minimum cost. Help?
- LANjackal
I can definitely do the SoundBridge Radio, but I'm optimistic that somewhere out there is a device that can do the same (or more) for less ...
- LANjackal
You guys wanna hear something funny? The cheapest solution is to simply buy a set of external speakers and connect my work laptop (which has the same music library as my home PC) to them. I'm looking at the Logitech Z-2300 http://www.logitech.com/index... which I can get for $147 online. Not quite as elegant, but better sound quality and device flexibility than the above standalone offerings.
- LANjackal
Woah, interesting stuff,. I was at work when I first saw this and was unable to get in time to check out. Good choice, not bad a price either.
- ElijahBailey-Zu of FF <0,
Hope they get those systems lower, they seem interesting devices for the nu-house's music needs.
- ElijahBailey-Zu of FF <0,
Thanks. What's really troubling though, is the lack of audio DMRs on the market. The SoundBridge & ZonePlayer were the only ones I could find. Logitech's Squeezebox isn't DLNA compliant. Oh well.
- LANjackal
Oh also, the Logitech's won't be going to the bedroom. They'll be replacing my 6+ year old Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX set as my PC's speakers. The Klipsch set will be moved to the bedroom ...
- LANjackal
Logitech set arrived today. That was fast. Thanks, Newegg. I'll be installing them later.

"the company has today released its first-ever WQHD monitor: the 27-inch UltraSharp U2711. Boasting a native 2,560 x 1,440 resolution, this beast just may pack enough pixels to sway you back into the single-monitor camp. Dell's also trumpeting the unit's "billion-color depth and IPS technology," and the 6-millisecond response time, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 350 nits of brightness and a 12-bit internal processing help to round things out. For the pros who make ends meet by editing photos or video, you'll probably enjoy knowing that this one boasts a 110 percent color gamut, factory-tuned Adobe RGB and sRGB modes (alongside a color calibration report), custom color adjustments and a smattering of mounting options. You'll also find just about every port known to man: HDMI 1.3, DisplayPort, DVI-D (x2), VGA, composite, component, USB (x4) and an 8-in-1 multicard reader."

A lot of folks, myself included, had high hopes for Dell's U2410 IPS LCD monitor. We were all disappointed, in particular with Dell's factory-based certification (they took quite a few liberties). Lots of problems that have yet to be resolved, undoubtedly inherited by this new larger offering.
- jcunwired
I'm kinda surprised that it's not LED backlit ... or is that feature useless for the monitor's intended purpose? I'm in love with the screen res otherwise

"The dual tuner model in development will require just one CableCARD and one coax input, but will allow you to record two HD shows at once, and all for $249 -- less than the single ATI CableCARD tuner sells for today. The nice thing about the networked tuner approach that has made the HDHomeRun so popular, is that even if you have your heart set on a small form factor PC like the Dell Zino HD, you can still have access to premium content even without any empty PCI-E slots."

Not only does Ford rank number one on J.D. Power and Associate's 2009 navigation system survey, it ranks number two as well. The top ranking system, according to Power's study, is the one found in the Lincoln MKS, followed by a nearly identical system (if not 100% identical) in the Ford Flex. And get this, Ford took down five of the top ten spots with the F-150 coming in fourth and the Escape and Edge taking seventh and eighth place, respectively. To anyone that's driven a modern Sync-equipped Ford with navigation, these survey results probably won't come as any sort of shock, as FoMoCo has been making some of the best systems in the business ever since they released Sync with Sirius Travel Link. Here's what Ford user interface design engineer Jason Johnson had to tell us about why Ford got ranked tops:

When you record your message, it is quickly transmitted to Nuance servers where a speech recognition algorithm is run against your data. The resulting text is returned to your iPhone very quickly; my informal benchmarks showed that it took about a second for text to be processed on a Wi-Fi network, and less than 5 seconds over 3G. You'll need a data connection for the app to work, but having this speech-to-text capability is going to be very important to a lot of people, who will find all sorts of uses for it.
"The new features will be rolling out in the next few days and will be available globally in English. You can try them out today by visiting http://www.google.com/trends and clicking on a 'hot topic,' which in most cases will bring you to a search results page with the new real-time feature."
- Tom Stocky
"Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of our new partners that we're announcing today: Facebook, MySpace, FriendFeed, Jaiku and Identi.ca — along with Twitter, which we announced a few weeks ago."
- Paul Buchheit
Yep. They shouldn't put the "already existing" results in motion. Fortunately, Friendfeed doesn't move down each updates one by one every time you refresh a page :)

I realize Steve Rubel's Klout. What about Chris Messina?
- TrafficBug
1. I actually don't know *anyone* on the list. But while I am keen on doing PR for artists, I'm not really in the PR profession so that doesn't say much.
- See-ming Lee 李思明 SML
2. I find it interesting that you see Chris Messina as being in the PR space. Chris Messina is an interaction designer. He probably deserves much credits for making many startups known through posting screenshots on his Flickr stream http://www.flickr.com/photos... - which btw is also how I took note of many startups - but that by itself is not really PR - although of course it...

"Needless to tell you that I am a big fan of the work done by The New York Times Online. The combination of engaging story-telling with sophisticated visual aesthetics and simplicity in usage makes playing with their interactive creations an delighful experience. The Innovation Portfolio is a place where they showcase some of their best creations and of course it is a well designed application itself. The innovations are represented by color-coded bubbles grouped in Virtual, Multimedia, Personal Tools, Interactive Graphics, User-Submitted and Applications. Once the user hovers over a bubble a small preview is shown and after selecting the bubble the feature is explained with a short video. The NYT also provides some insight into user engagement by showing the actual page-views along with the average time spent with the feature. The user can view the feature directly on NYT Online or download a PDF-version of the description."

It all started when Dan Stowell, a Ph.D. candidate at London’s Queen Mary’s Centre for Digital Music, tweeted “instructions on how to make a sound like waves crashing on the shore” according to a statement. Other students responded in kind, ultimately contributing 22 tweetable songs for a crowdsourced album called sc140, released in conjunction with The Wire magazine.

Interesting tool. It picked up many Friendfeed replies on Friendfeed in the comment chain that I did not know exist because Friendfeed by default does not send email when someone reply to you in the comment area. It also shows many Twitter RT that I did not know about because somehow they picked up my Friendfeed RSS (or maybe they are using Yahoo Pipes) so I was not notified by those Twitter mentions.
