Might take a decade, but you can see this getting to Broadway at some point. Could someone phone Alan to see if he's interested in getting involved.

@deburca Oh yeah indeedy - even got the ring tone somewhere!
The Actor model adopts the philosophy that everything is an actor. This is similar to the everything is an object philosophy used by some object-oriented programming languages, but differs in that object-oriented software is typically executed sequentially, while the Actor model is inherently concurrent.

This then relates to "Everyone is an Artist and Society is a Sculpture"? (Beuys)

Get yer geek on - this is wonderful. Crazy Concurrency: Concurrency Control basics set to Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" - http://www.youtube.com/watch...
Concurrency is the next major revolution in how we write software. Different experts still have different opinions on whether it will be bigger than OO, but that kind of conversation is best left to pundits. For technologists, the interesting thing is that concurrency is of the same order as OO both in the (expected) scale of the revolution and in the complexity and learning curve of the technology.

"The idea of a DIY electronic washing machine using recycling parts and Open source microcontroller was born in spring 2008 during an Open Source Hardware workshop for artists in Craslab Paris. We had to rethink the economical, sociological and technical concepts of washing clothes in a consciousness of sustainable development and respect of the natural and human environment. We had to rethink the implication of technology in simple daylife, through the millenary painful activity of washing clothes."

The problem with open source is that you can maybe duplicate a program or an idea, it's immaterial, but not a piece of hardware. So, the open source policy, by nature, can't satisfy all our needs. The fancy for open source will show its limits: in our case, you cannot open source an actor, a cameraman, a script girl.

Acting and Camera Operators are based upon a 'commons' being available - it's how any personas and skills are developed. Their output is not always so open as their work is generally owned via the traditional financing/distributor/exhibitor models. Most acting is piracy.

But, you've just 'made' my point. :)

Arf! Yup, nice little semantic trigger you *created* there. Thinking about it, it's the full stops that are the islands - each sentence is a modifying shift away from a previous understanding of whatever it is you're reading, towards the next full stop and the next finished understanding of it. Every sentence is a journey, man!
