"From what I understand, the body does consume fat during a fast, however I have not heard about the cell killing abilities you mention. But it should seem pretty obvious that the body would go after it's fat stores when you are not eating. Water, juice, clear broth type fasts all do this fat burning exercise. The primary benefit I have heard is that the body starts to consume stored fats. Which helps detox, since a lot of bad stuff is fat soluable and stays with you for a while. For example artifical sweeteners which break down your DNA and eventually MIGHT cause cancer cells.
